There was one interesting T-Bird model that one doesn't hear much about. To wit; in 1957 Ford installed a Paxton Supercharger on their 312 ci engine. In this set-up, it produced an advertised 300 hp. When growing up, there was a Ford dealer in my home town of Beckley, WVa that had a supercharged T-Bird as her personal car. I seem to recall that the supercharger body protruded a little, through, I believe the left front fender. Unfortunately, I never saw the car being driven; but seeing it made an impression on me, even at 9 years old. |
