| wrong name? |

I think the Croma is a fine machine. But 400 HP pulling the front wheels? Insane. 4WD might be the answer. Pity the actual Croma is such a slow seller. A small V6 and some nice face lifting would make a difference. The car is excellent, nothing wrong, just the deja vu styling. And the tarnished reputation of Fiat, but when I tested the Croma I was surprised and must say the perceived quality is certainly on a level with the rest of the crowd. A huge progress indeed. |

I can't help thinking that whatever Fiat would try to do bringing out a new upmarket car, they should never have named it Croma again, that name has not stuck in automotive history as a masterpiece of contemporary saloon building. Furthermore I find it strange that in the story presented here no mention is made to the real outstanding feature of the car namely the engine. Being the first V8 Fiat since the legendary Otto Vu from the early fifties that fact might hve been highlighted much more than the typical PR stuff that Giugiaro wants us to read about his additions to the standard Croma. Summarising: The best name for the car would simply be 8V and nothing more. |
| Can you say Volkswagen? |

I'm sorry, but this looks entirely too much like a Touareg/Golf/Passat rip off to me. Would be interesting to see how far Fiat gets with such an 'upper class' car, compared to the usually cheaper range of cars they're offering (and regarding Fiat's economical situation at this point!). The general style of the car is nice (since I like the VW style) and I like the interior... so release it and give it a chance already. ;) |
