 Correction on construction

I want to make a correction to the text regarding construction of the GTA. I owned one of these cars in 1966 and preformed race prep on several others. All the cars had an aluminum outer body shell that was bonded and pop-riveted to an inner steel alloy shell of lesser thickness than the standard steel GT. Aditionally, many of the aluminum castings were replaced with magnesium. The wheels were magnesium also. The cars had special close-ratio gearboxes that had the gears machined down to make them lighter. It would only shift well if you shifted briskly, balking if you shifted slowly. Just the opposite of a standard Alfa of that era. Additional lightening measures brought the car's weight down from about 2200 lbs for the GT to 1630 lbs dry for the GTA. It was possible for two people to easily lift a stripped body overhead (I know as I did it), It was a fantastic car and I wish I could afford one now. New in '66 it was $5625, I understand they are over $100,000 today if you can find one. Only about 500 of the 1600cc car were built.
 These cars are Beutiful!

My favorite car in the world is the 1969 Camaro and I've long believed that the '64 Alfa GTA inspired the front end of the Camaro. The bug eyed lights surrounded by a large grille are ver musclecarish. I'd love to own one of these cars someday!
