Maybach....it sure looks weird, but come on, who wouldn't want one? At least you could sell it if you really didn't want it. Sheesh....this thing is a true Rolls- Wannabe! If I had $300,000 lying around I'd buy one! This is the definition of true luxury. Take the interior of the Maybach, stick it into a stretched Rolls Phantom and there you have it - Pure beauty. I wouldn't spend $300,000 on a sports car, as you wouldn't be getting much luxury, and unless you're a race car driver or something, you wouldn't get to drive it fast. The Maybach has speed also, as you can see from the performance figures. Luxury and Speed are hard to combine, but the Maybach somehow does both just fine. =) *Goes to steal nearest Mayback* |

"I've lived in the United Arab Emirates for a while now and im just about to leave for good in 4 days for higher education reasons. Such a shame tho... the cars here are brilliant... Case in point: Maybach 62 right in front of me. So big, so sleek, so sexy... its just saying ""HA! bling bling all you want, you got no game if u dont own one of these..."" and im like ""oh wow..."" Yea just thought id share that...:)" |

I don't like this car a bit. First its design looks like someone mixed a Lexus with a S600 L, thats a big mistake I think of Mercedes. The quality of the things in and outside the car are off course very good but it has to. The engine than, well that is something that rocks, 900Nm thats super. But if I would buy a car like the Maybach, than I rather buy a Rolls. |
| FIVE STAR INTERIOR |
| LoudSilence 11-7-2003 |
OK,I havent' explore this whole big site(great job, webmaster) but by far this car in my opinion has the most luxurious interior compared to others(especially racing cars) put 4 extra doors to it with the same facility and luxury, bill gates would sell microsoft to get this work of art(really!) |
| holy shit! |
| asuda_s2 25-5-2003 |
this cars is so luxurious, it doesn't compare to anything in luxury. i mean seriously what othe car has massaging seats, 800 wat sound system, 6 CD changer, fully reclining rear seats, a fridge, i could go on for ages but ive been notified by by butler i have to go. i think im gonna get one sometime |
| """STILL THE KING""" |
| mer cle 20-5-2003 |
"I say this once & i'm going to say it agian, when u r the king there is no one that can take ur thrown. When ever mercedes set out there hands to design anything, think of it to go PLATINUM, the maybach right now is the world most well build luxury car, the rolls royce that bmw is coming with need to go back on the drawing board to be redesign. I'm not saying that its not up to its standard but when u check out what the maybach can do do there is nothing in its class that can compete with it. The maybach the a true example of what mercedes is liable to do if they want to show the world what they can do, ""think of ur self being in QUEEN PALACE""." |

"When I once showed the picture of a Maybach 57 or 62 to my mother she asked if it was a Lexus or something. At first I was a bit embarrassed about her question because I somehow admired (and still admire) this car and knew what it was meant to be but perhaps, after all, she was closer to the reality than I thought at that time. I do believe that Maybach is well-made and basically worth the price but for me it is too soft-looking and, yes, slightly tasteless with those 500 or so diodes in the rump, for example... It doesn't look like the ultimate motor car in the world. It manages to lack charisma and real character in my eyes, despite its size and the attention certainly paid on the details. Interior is quite classy and there seems to be huge amount of space in this stretched version; Still, the overall feeling is that this is just a stretched S-classer. It simpy looks too much Mercedes inside. If RR Phantom's cabin had been a carbon-copy of that I-Driven 7-series Bimmer I guess the Spirit of Ecstasy would have been shot down for good. And at last, the engine is turbocharged... No, no doubt, I'm sure it is as reliable as any modern engine and there won't be any lag to be felt, but I can't help feeling that Mercedes just wanted to give this car more power than RR without too much effort or money put in more prestigious or exciting unit. It is the same twelve used in SL & co. All in all, Maybach is a fine car but nothing more. And the question is: Why do they call it Maybach if it is just another Mercedes-Benz?" |
| We Really need this |
| 911959 31-3-2003 |
I cannot belive that one would even dare to compare this car with an S-Class or even the hideous BMW 7 Series. With the Pullman you make a much more logical arguement. The Pullman is to me unconvincing. Looking at the pictures of the car on this website one can notice annoying flaws, for example the newly added wood on the doors do not match the shade of the old and looks like is does not belong. Secondly there is no space in the back of the car with the row of bacward facing seats included it looks to be a real squeeze when carring 6 people. Thirdly it is only a stretched S-Class and not anything of higher quality. Fourthly the pullman is a conversion and compromises will be made as can be seen again in the interior especially and cannot compete with a car designed from the outset to be a proper limo. Some might argue this is excess but if excess is tastefully executed the results can be magical just look at the symbols of excees left back by the kings of past centuries in the form of their magnificent castles or the towering spires of the great Cathedrals. Hundreds of years after we still marvel at there excess and beauty. This car takes autombiles to a high it has not seen since the sad loss of Bugatti and the brilliance of the Royale. Sometimes we need excess think of a world with out Lamborghini or Ferrari or Pagani, I think it would be a sad place indeed. This aslo begs another question do we need the S-Class or the 7 series should we not just settle foe the perfectly fine E-Class. Maybe we should all just drive Corollas perhaps? Yeah right. |
| Do we really need this??? |
| dm2hot4u 10-2-2003 |
I was just looking over the Maybach 62, and 57 for that matter, and wondered one thing: while it may be one of the best cars in the world, do people really need this over a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7-series? Furthermore, do people really need this over the perfect-by-many Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman AMG (details are available at http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.mv?file=car.mv&num=974??? Although the Maybach does somethings which the S-Class or 7-Series can never hope to do, and some which the Pullman AMG might be capable of, one has to ask where Benz's priority lies. Or maybe its' just that people who buy the Maybach want a badge on their bonnet which is greater than that of Mercedes-Benz. Or they may not just like the brand at all. |
| New Standard by which to Measure |
| 911959 9-2-2003 |
The Maybach 57 & 62 are clearly the best luxury cars on the planet. I have read other negative user comments on its exterior style, (which I personaly like). I find this strange, because I have not heard the same said about the S-Class which is basically a shorter version and which has been highly regarded for its external beauty. This car does not try to recall some long past era in its external appearence as Rolls Royce tried to do and failed most miserably at. It is at once modern to the eye, yet one cannot deny its links to the past which is uniquely acheived through sheer excess which was charteristic of the Bugatti Royale era. The only retro touch is its two toned paint scheme, also quite attractive. The interior is magnificent the choices and mixtures of wood, suede, leather a treat for anyone with the money to own one. The engine, sweet. this car is simply hard to find fault with. With the 57 Maybach has surpassed the S-Class and with the 62 they have redfined the limo. With both cars they have set the standard by which all others must be judged and the first challenger has already come up wanting, namely the Rolls. Brilliant job Maybach. |
| Nice but |
| beef 4-2-2003 |
i really like te maybachs interior but from the out side it just looks like a lincolen but the interior is extremley nice but its not worth 260,000usd for me i would choos the Rolls-Royce phantom. |
| OH my god |
| narayan 11-1-2003 |
like plastic? have you lost your mind boy. this car is made of best materials money can buy. i think its the best car you can buy , either that or the new Rolls Phantom. Those 2 are THE BEST. |
| We live in a stupid world! |
| CiubirMicutzu 3-12-2002 |
"I can' believe the stupidity of some comments about this car, they're incredible:""the wood looks like plastic, you are better off buying a Mercedes or a BMW"". Some kids decided to express their oppinions about this car, which they don't know almost anything about, besides just a few basic facts. Of course anyone which is informed more than average about a car knows that you can't judge a car simply by a couple a pictures, and in my oppinion, this car looks, and probably drives incredible, and if i would have the opportunity, i would choose it anyday to a Mercedes or a BMW, becouse it has a unique form and appareal, contrarly to the other two firms, especially, Mercedes, which in a very long period of time made only o few minor adjustments to the car's aspect, making it a bore for seeing. """ |
| Tasteless |
| phanteratigris 4-11-2002 |
This is just a tasteless car.And useless.Buy a big bmw or mercedes in long versions.Very comfortable cars and much cheaper. Thanks for the word. |
| Interior |
| Jonboy 15-9-2002 |
The 'wood' looks like it's made out of plastic. In fact, the interior appears to have been lifted from the Mercedes Benz S Class. Does the Maybach name mean anything to anyone either? For example, Cadillac has an illustrious history but in Europe, the cars are not perceived to be a premium product. Otherwise, if overstuffed saloons are your thing, the perfect car. |
| all about sound!! |
| motorhead 14-9-2002 |
This is the best thing to listen music in. It has 24 speakers!!!!!!!!!!! The sound would be genarally better than a cinema but it still does not beat the sound of a huse speaker in fornt of your face at full volume!! |
| The Answer |
| hegazy 9-9-2002 |
i think this is the response of mercedes on BMW (rollsrouse) &volkeswagon (bently) on the most luxurious car in the world with a really big car (more than 5 meters long) and a powerfull engine V12 5.513 litre it is a spechial car for spechial pepole |
| Excess to the extreme |
| IBrake4Rainbows 9-9-2002 |
As the world enters another rescession, what do Mercedes/Maybach do? Inflict a poorly designed, though obscenely luxurious car on the rich and famous of the world! But tell me, who could lust after such a deformed beast? It looks like Chris Bangle of BMW 7-Series fame has scored himself a gig at Maybach! Stil they are nice seats....... |
| Maybach 62: The Ultimate Combination Of Car & Class. |
| EnzoFerrari 30-8-2002 |
Ice Dragon is right, this car is the ultimate in luxury and class. We have been driving around in the CL600 for quite a while now, but after seeing this car, I think I am willing to spend the money needed. However, I don't think that this car is going to be any threat to the Mercedes Benz S-Class. The cars have significant price gaps, and just because you can drive an S-Class most defenitely doesn't mean you can just pick up a 62. I feel many car enthusiast will be limited to the S-Class, which will make up for sales. However, the Maybach will still sell quite well, at least when you consider how much it cost. For goodness sake, the Moon Roof alone cost $20,000! |
| alirght, you ARE crazy! |
| icedragon 15-8-2002 |
energy2, you are officially crazy. How could you possibly think that this car lacks class? It is the classiest car on the market right now. Even though it is VERY expenisve, some think it's worth it. I on the other hand think that the Mercedes S600 with sports package, as my dad has it, is a VERY classy car and VERY roomy. No car NEEDS reclining chairs in them to sleep, if you want to sleep, go home into bed. But this is a extreamly nice car and a very serious competetor for Bently and Rolls Royce. |
| Great piece of machine this! |
| breistul100 4-8-2002 |
Finally a classic brand that should not have been closed down. It looks good and feels good. Rolls, Bentley, Cadillac, Lincoln will have a rough ride in the future. When the coupe and convertible comes it will be more complete, hope for 16 cylinder engines. That is the only minus on this car, 16 cylinders are more heavy and who cares about the gas consumption!!!! Congratulations DaimlerChrysler, a beauty |
| maybach? |
| energy2 30-7-2002 |
I heard that Mercedes are spending millions on advertising the maybach name, because no one outside of germany has heard of it What we have here, is a massive capacious car, but the front end reminds me of a 1970's Toyota Crown. It lacks class. The interior may have all the gadgets, and beds inside, but so does a VW camper van. However, i dont know how Mercedes does it , but its production for 2002, has sold out, even though the car is costing E260,000! i would prefer to have a bently arnage Hooper conversion, |
| Bentley's and Rolls-Royce's Competitor. |
| RedSnapper 24-6-2002 |
It's so beautiful, spacious and luxurious. Probably the best super-luxury vehicle in the world. One thing that surpasses Bantley and Rolls is body design and interior. The interior is innovative while the exterior has the beauty of Mercedes-Benz. And it's not a threat to S-class since they are in different class. -ReD $n4pPer- |
| A Fantastic Vehicle |
| CaneMan 15-6-2002 |
This is in my eyes, a super fantastic vehicle and all I would like to know is: When may I get one? James Bond, you wish you could get one!! |
| The Best In The World !!! |
| dm2hot4u 14-6-2002 |
This car is like the best car in the world right now. Previously it was the S-Class, but if Mercedes-Benz is biulding it, you just know it's got to be better than the S. Look out Bentley and Rolls-Royce...here comes Maybach!!!! |
| ITS AMAZING!!! |
| Warwickian 14-6-2002 |
Though after a long time, Diamler Chrysler is launching Maybach. But its with the same traditional and superb look. It gives great feeling to a car lovers and one can have two leisures at the same time, M.BENZ AND MAYBACH...No doubt it is the alternative option for the buyers who used to bought only Mercedes Benz and it is a major threat for Mercedes Benz S-class. |
