I think that there is nothin wrong with the lancer evo 7 wrc2 because it set the one of the fastest time in germany. Its the drivers that are rubbish really (not being harsh) plus i dont think that the lancer should not be a 3 door coupe cos it will look sh*t.

"The Mitsu Evo in street form is ok, but only about $10K U.S. too high for what you get. For a lot less you can get a Dodge Neon SRT, albeit with just front drive & yes it has those obtrusive 4 doors, but its got something very few if any saki sleds possess-Genuine Personality & a real name. I forgot to mention the most important part that its swarzzenager inspired powertrain will simply fry a Mitsu Zero, er-EVO, Sube WRX & probably a new Nissan Z car in the straights & perhaps in the twisties, plus you've got those Viper seats to hold you in place. You can verify my claims in the latest sports compact car & other hot rod mags; top these #'s.(1/4mile @13.9s-104mph & 153mph top end) You're gonna need a Viper-Vette-Mustang to do it. Just think of the $ you saved as you watch the Rising Sun in your RVM. MLH-mech. engr."
 correct me if I'm wrong...

to those who have said that the evo having 4 doors adds to its weight...I just browsed through all the 2002 rally cars on this site and they are all the same weight.

i agree wif the 4 door thing, but i think that they should have a 3 door lancer coupe rally car instead of the EVO 7.yes tommi makenin won 4 world rallies but now hes driving for subraru, which really sux's,so now mitsi's gone to the sh*t. we need tommi bac driving wif them!! I love Evo's they r a really good car.
 Why they use 4 doors

They have to use four doors because the actual bodies of the car have to resemble the street version almost identically. That's also another reason why they aren't allowed to have so much power like before. The engine size can remain the same, but you can only be pushing so many pound feet of boost out due to regulations. But no doubt this car is awesome, just needs some better drivers. Hopefully when the Evolution Vlll car comes out stateside next year, they'll build an even better rally car out of that. But no matter what, I'll always love the EVO's.
 backup to 4 doors..

"i agree with u man....is there really any point in having 4 doors? here are my reasons it shouldnt have 4 doors... 1. The drivers arent as comforable,so they wont drive as good as they would if they were ""comfortable"" 2.more addings makes the car slower 3.it looks just wierd 4.no point in having 4 doors...theres only one or 2 drivers in the same car during a race..unless u have a race like in the movie ""the love bug"""""

 Need Better Drivers

Mitsubishi's Evo isn't a bad car, they just don't have any good drivers. A few years back, Tommi Makkinen was driving for Mitsubishi and they won alot. The other downfall is that 4 door, big cars, can't make it that far in rally.
 Maybe...

Maybe Mitsubishi will score some more points in the rest of the year with the updated Lancer. They sure could use some more.
