 lack of horsepower

it was actually yesterday, friday 23 may, that i drove this car for about one and a half hour,in the surroundings of mnchengladbach, brd. it was fast, indeed. but when speeds of more than, let's say 160 km/h were demanded, this diesel-engine was not strong enough. i reached 230 km/h after quite a long distance, so 250 km/h must take a long time to reach. Thanks to its 600 nm. of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 takes a mere 7,3 seconds or so. But higher speeds need horsepower. and then 258 hp is not enough.

"Blessed are those who do not know. This obviously applies to Ultimate Car Guy, judging from his comments on diesel engines. On other occassions I have already commented on the hostile attitude against these engines common with the american public, which is apparently fully unaware of the developments that took place to make diesel THE propulsion unit of the future. Take the example of the VW Golf GTI which comes with both a 150 BHP, 2 litres diesel and petrol engine. The latter is no match against selfburner, not unsignificantly due to its great amounts of torque that is available at revs where the petrol car needs to shift down two gears. Finally all diesel engines come with the ""I'drive, you refuel"" technology, not unimportant during a time of ever diminishing oil reserves. Apart from this I agree that the BMW is an ugly car, but that goes for all current BMW's with the X5 as the most prominent example."""

This car lacks nothing, not power, especially not tourqe and especially not innovation (what is considered overkill today can become essential tomorrow), and not in luxury- WHAT ITS MEANT FOR. Diesel engines cant be complaine about, efficient, somewhat inexpensive (ESPECIALLY where the car will be, like europe and asia) and delivers generous torque for very smooth driving at any speed. what is there to say bad about the car. youd have to be ignorant

"As if the new 7 series needed one more thing to be less exciting. I will try not to comment on the design, that would be a total waste of good typing time. I will however say this about the engine: How many times in your life do you need torque enough to move a village with its people? Similar engines come as standard on cranes and 6-wheelers and there's no ""i-drive, U-laugh"" technology. """

After the 745 has come out, i thought there would be atleast a bit in the 7 series era but now that the 740 has come out, SUCCESS IS INSURED...that fact that the bHP is a pity, the amout of torque makes up for it..now the world of 7 series luxary will have a bit of domination on the ROAD..CHEERS TO BMW
