| too modern? |
| henk4 03-09-2005 |
As a long term Citroen fan I of course took the opportunity in Geneva to study this car outside an inside. Sitting is celestial (after that I tried a Chrysler 300C ...) but the instruments look a tat to modern to my liking. There is a small box in front of the driver that has some instruments, but I doubt if readability will be convincing during driving. (The recently introduced C4 is even worse with central instruments) It reminds me of the dash of DS which at her introduction also had a futuristic dash, but ended her impressive career with three big clocks in front of the driver. This may look boring but for me it represents the essence of interior desing, seeing a nice set of dials that show me everything I need to know at a glance. No need for head up displays and the like. Just plain black dials with white pointers. Nothing better than that. Hopefully build quality will be such that right at the introduction on the market the car will be trouble free, and provide a viable alternative to the german cars that dominate this market segment. The car stands out from the crowd, with nice cues to previous big Citroens, like the shape of the rear window, taken over from the CX and making the use of a wiper superfluous. |
