| Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe |
| MountieFan16 11-24-2012 |
In the early 1950's, my Father had been bitten by the "Sports Car" bug. His first was an MG-TD. His next purchase was a Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe, which he traded the MG for down in Florida. When purchased, the Coupe was solid black. The Jag was a 2-seater, which wasn't too practical for us since there were 2 boys in the family. There was a shelf behind the seats, which it turned out, was hollow underneath. My Dad and a local upholstery shop cut the shelf out and put in two "jump seats". The Jag then became a 2+2 and the whole family could enjoy a ride together. I was very young when we had this car, but I do remember that I thought it was the most beautiful car I'd ever seen. We kept it a couple of years and Dad got the bug for another car and he traded the Jag off; much to my chagrin. |
