I live in the US. I only wish I could test drive the Alfa 147 GTA to see what all the excitement is about. I cannot, though, for Alfas are not marketed in North America. Some users/reviewers rave about this car with the sort of passion young men feel for the woman they love, while others simply have no use for it. All of this suggests to me that the 147 GTA a true Alfa Romeo to its very core, calling forth the polarized reactions most drivers have had to the marque since I became interested in it in the 1960s. Alas, most of my fellow Americans just don't appreciate Italian sorts cars or have any idea how they should be driven. I suppose that is why Fiat/Alfa no longer markets its products here. A move to Europe would be a major life change for me, but what I read about the 147 GTA tempts me to go for it.Those of you lucky enough to be able to drive this machine -- be aware of how lucky you are, and motor on!
 BLODDY FAST!

i drove one and am thinking of buying one, well if i had 22k id have one now but i haven't so for the time being ill just have to remember that day i drove one................... The engine, oh baby that engine sounds the b*****ks it sounds like...........the god of thunder........ gargling on nails. that 3.2 v6 allows the driver to be a race driver whenever he gets into the body hugging leather seated world of the well manicured alfa cockpit. when i drove it home after a photo shoot i was waiting at lights and the inevitable happened....i was challenged by some middle aged twat in his mitsubishi evo he was revving and tring to intimidate me with the growl of his engine i shut him up with my beastly roar of the alfas 3.2 and then GREEN!!!!GO....i was gone and in front of that evo without drama.BLOODY FAST!

Had the GTA for over 7 months and totally love it. SHame it isn't 4 wheel drive but guess can't have everything. Check ou the body kits etc on the autodelta site.....can upgrade to a 3.7 but I think you definitely need 4WD with it.........looks like the GTA selespeed ison its way too.
 Significantly better than the 156GTA

Popped by my local Alfa Romeo dealer when the 147 GTA arrived in their showroom. It is somethiing you need to experience to appreciate. They had 3 on the floor, Alfa Red, Sterling grey and metallic grey. The Red had the leather option and sports tune and the sound of the engine is so sweet. It has that really nice buzzing sound you hear from the V6 Alfas Romeos. Can't wait until I get my hands on one for a test drive.

been one of the first people in the uk to actually own a 147 gta i can tell you that the car is fantastic. im only 20 yrs old and there is nothing better than some stupid mid twenties men in their flash bmw's pulling up next to you and then, thinking your in a 147 with a bit of body kit, trying to race you. its hilarious how fast this car actually is, petrol consumption is quite high though, talking 18mpg!! but the car is a head turner and the inside is gorgeous. i was going to buy a lotus, glad i didnt, buy the 147GTA anyday....... BYE BYE GTI!!

A powerful motor in an ugly little body. Lucky it has that going for it. I cant see what people find attractive about the look of this thing. Still plenty of people obviously like them. Front wheel drive too. Makes the perfect package. NOT.
Pull up your socks, Alfa Romeo

It may be beautiful, it may be sporty, it may have the performance, it may be highly-spec, but it doesn't have a rigid body that spells disasters during a crash. Thus, the chassis has actually a lot of potential, just let down by that body which is simply not rigid enough.

Last night i went to the melbourne motor show and must say i was impressed by the GTA, it looked very classy indeed and typically Italian. My dad (i'm 15) may be looking into one in the future.

Ouch! This hatchback has got 250bhp. So much has got Alfa Romeo 156GTA. The model 147 GTA is fast and better from normal version.

It is quite beautiful actually. It looks much better in the metal than looking at it in picture. It had nice round rims and sensational interior especially the gauges, speedometer and tachometer. I still prefer the 156 Gta anyway!!!!
 Looks better than a civic

Here in North America, there's no Alfa Romeo's! SO it's quite clear that this is a beautiful car, i wish they had more european cars in here than those very ugly american stupid american cars! it would be really nice driving this car here!

I was actually looking foward to this car, and to think that they have wasted an opportunity like this really cuts me up. Thsi car is little more than a 147 with a V6 and some body addenda, not the Alfasud reminder we were promised. Boo, Alfa, Boo.
 Well Done!

I love italian cars, especially Alfa Romeos. I am too young to get driving-licence. When 156 GTA came out I said that that'll be my first car. I really like it. I also said that nothing could change my mind except 147 GTA if it comes out once. And here it is. Real Alfa, Cuore Sportivo. I like everything about this car, except maybe rear bumper, too big. Well done Alfa.
 Uhh......gly!

Living in Italy I see a lot of 147 around, it's a successful car if compared to its ugly predecessor, and it is actually a good sight especially when it's equipped with large rims (17 inches or so). So I'm quite sad to say that this Gta looks quite ugly instead. I Know I should wait to see it in real before judjing it, but these pictures leave me little hope to change my mind. The modified parts really don't fit well in the original 147's shape. The air intakes near the lights in the front, the new large air intake in the bumpers, the rims and the rear bumper all look heavy and graceless. Probably the light coloured paintwork makes it look even worse. One more thing, the rear bumper reminds me of the front bumper of the recent Fiat 600 Sporting. And the assembly quality is still quite poor (take a look at the passenger's airbag cover, see the shadow? Do you see how badly it is mounted?) And I think it would have been better to make this version an AWD and not a front wheel drive, too much horse power under the hood. If they only decided to put the Brera to production instead.
