yeah this thing doesnt look like a competitor for the wrx and the evo, although the engine could put it in the same class i just can't see it stealing sales from the wrx and the evo. subaru and mitsubishi have been making their wrx's and evo's for much longer than mazda has been making something in the same class. i think mitsi and subaru know their stuff in this class a lot better than mazda, and i dont believe mazda will have a worthy competitor for a few years yet, this thing just doesn't have that 'come on show me wat ya got' feeling of agressiveness about it like the evo and wrx does. also this thing just looks a bit boring, like it was made to take charlie to the opera a bit faster so he could get the good seats |

Very clean sheet metal, but am not fond of the turbo motor. Build it with a 6, which is much easire to live with from day to day, and enough grunt to compete with the preformance of Nissan & Honda. If it's got a six plus power, I'm on your buyers list. Eliminating the the turbo would also eliminate the slit just above the grill and really clean up the sheetmetal. Mazda is on the right track. Keep up the ZOOM-ZOOM. |

"Zoom, Zoom, Zoom is finally starting to mean something. The RX-8 and now the "" 6MPS"". What I can't understand is why our ""Big 3"" can't (or more appropriate, WON'T) build a high performance sedan with AWD and a MANUAL. How do they know the demand wouldn't be there? Lets see, subaru has survived on providing lame-driving awd sedans (just now importing some fun). Audi, BMW,Mitsubishi(Evo), Now Volvo (see s60r) have caught on. Yes, I am wanting (and waiting) for an AWD Sedan with performance (0-60 in 6.5 or less)a MANUAL option, and enough room to take my family of 5 with me. If Mazda builds this car, for under, say $36,000 Loaded, I will see one in my driveway. If they don't, I guess I'll have to look for a pre-owned Audi A6 2.7T or the Volvo S60R. Mazda, there is a market in the USA for this car. Even Subaru is planing to install the WRX motor in the next generation Legacy. And no, not everyone that buys an SUV wants a truck, but they do want the All-weather security that an SUV gives. That same security could be had in an AWD sedan. Send me an order form for the MPS, I'll take the first one off the line!""" |
