You people, as the well evolved hunanoid I do not proclaim to be, let me say this. Why the fuss over a vehicle which is so blah. I myself have through not so uncommon means feel a vehicle is like a piece of clay. As I hope many of you understand a 240 hp v6 is by no means a waste, but merely a beginning. Is it far from the truth to say many people modify their vehicles, not just by assuming a flatulating coffee can exhaust tip, but with purpose driven motives in mind such as hmmmm, creating a sleeper? I have on numerous occasions witnessed the civic crowd, 5.o crowd, etc. wasting valuable resources with unnecessary pedal pushing all the while making fools of themselves. This monte carlo might be in your eyes a showroom waste of space, but I personally think that sleepers are the way to go. Yes the 2004 monte carlo supercharged ss is a dog, but I like it. uncanny looks, big, and fuel efficient' not to mention quick. I am in the process of researching the purchase of one, and yes, it will be a sleeper. So do not unjustly buff off a car because of what one thinks it's unworthy, but accept the fact that one day you will be seeing a timeslip with higher numbers on it, and it won't be mine.

To anyone who keeps on saying this car sucks because it's FWD or V6...you can't say anything until you actually drive one. I guarantee you'd shut up real quick. I did.

I have the 2001 Monte Carlo SS and can say that it has been a terrific car from the standpoint of being an affordable luxury coupe. Great appointments, leather seats, about everything I could want, except for decent horse power. Even my agency agrees that all customers complain about the same anemia. We can't even go for after market horses, as there aren't any manufactures that cater to the 3.8 L engine. With the loss of the Camaro, you would think that the Monte would be a candidate for a performance coupe in the Chevrolet lineup. Oh for a set of aluminum heads, headers, and tuned induction!!!

"well, just a short comment, the Monte Carlo ""new"" 3.8 supercharged engine is not even new. it was new in 1997 in the pontiac grand prix GTP it was also name the serie 2. but in 2004, pontiac (or GM what the heck) have developped a new engine for the GTP, its the serie 3, it's a 3.8 supercharged with 260 hp. So GM took the GTP's engine and they put it in the Monte Carlo. I also think it's crap because it's a FWD the monte carlo should have stayed a RWD with a v8 engine like the corvette. (or a little less than the corvette )"

How can chevy go on with this pile of crap, its got a lil v-6 in it that is supercharged and still only has 240 horses and is slow as hell. Chevy either needs to drop their junker 350 in it or do something else, cause this is a pile of junk... The SS is starting to mean super slow more and more every car and truck they make....

I have no reservations in my disbelief at the shere level of shite that Chevrolet has achieved with this thing. It's terrible. It looks, awful, it drives like a 60's Caddy, it's slower than most things I can think of out here in England, and it's generally CRAP. I cannot believe that things like the Silverado SST prototypes exist in the same family as this thing. It's just not possible. I spent months, years, working my butt off on making the SST a serious machine, as did many hardworking men and women, and then along come GM and bring this thing out. Where is this heading? I can't believe a supercharger is required to bring 240 horses out of the Chevy stables either. I know many people here in the UK with 200hp+ cars which aren't even 2 litr displacement units, all on four cylinders. This should have at LEAST 300hp from such a beasty engine. Even Mercedes manage 280hp out of their 3.7 V6. They don't even try for horses. Who else could get away with getting less than 400hp out of a 6 litre V12? Nobody but BMW. Chevrolet, get serious. If you're going to ditch V8's, at least make us a V6 to be proud of. I didn't work so hard, for so long, just to be associated with such crap.

Here is the reason Holden have been asked to export the Monaro to the US for Pontiac. They might want to import the CV6 V6 Monaro as well and call it a Chev. It looks a million times better and is rear wheel drive. The Impala is no better. What a peice of crap. Maybe Holden should send them the whole range. What the hell happened to rear wheel drive? This from the company that builds the Corvette. ??????????

Ask yourself a question... do you really think Chevrolet was trying to make a V-8 crushing race car with this? NO!!! IDIOTS!!! The Monte Carlo isn't a crasy turboed up fart sounding exhaust race car. It is a family car plain and simple! I personally own a 1998 Monte Carlo Z34. It has a whopping 3800 V-6 in it but guess what... I didn't buy it to race!! When bashing a car because it isn't extremely fast, or not a 6 speed, or whatever you morons can come up with, think of what the car was designed to do. I bet if they slapped a big Type R sticker on it and bolted a huge top fuel dragster wing on the back it would gain 100 horsepower... does that only work on foreign cars?
 THos other guys are retarded!!!

For the all the HP, good suspension and everyday driveability, this thing is a steal for under 30 grand. Come on it may not be a super car or anything but thats not what there trying to do with this car. There trying to make an everyday fun to drive car even funner. I mean who cares that its not V8 beater, its not supposed to be.
Overweight and Ugle, that not even the worste part...

"its front wheel drive too! What was Chevrolet thinking putting an ""ss"" badge on this 3500lb, 240hp, bent-rear-bumper coupe. You know what I think of this new SS line...CRAP CRAP CRAP!"

chev needed a supercharger to extract 240hp out of this? when is chev gunna replace their range of shitty ohv engines and replace them with decent dohc engines, only then will they be extracting good figures from their engines. chev probably think they have a v8 eater with this car, well maybe they do, but have a look at the current ford australia six cylinder lineup. 182kw 4.0L atmo 6 and 240kw turbo six. before u dickhead chev fans go off about the turbo, its only running 6 psi.now those engines are v8 eaters, and wouldnt the engine be better with a manual shift? i mean thers not all that much torque to worry about
 I don't know....

This car's specs and info is surprising but the overall look of it just dreads me. Why don't they change the look? It looks so very ugly and im upset. I like the '96 M Carlos better. Also those rims are played out aswell, the Ford Taurus has them! (ofcourse they are different in very small ways) but to my main idea, its ugly.
