 Dealers are Ripping Off Consumers

I recently visited Superior Nissan in Kansas City. They are selling their Roadsters at $10,000 over the MSRP on the sticker. Their rationale is that the Roadster is a hot car, and consumers will pay to have one. I feel this is unfortunate. The Z roadster was intended to be a performance sportscar that was more affordable than a Porsche, Corvette or BMW Z. The dealer left a foul taste in my mouth. It is so unfair to do this to the consumer. I hope Nissan takes a stance on dealers overcharging consumers. I have read on other web sites of dealers selling Roadsters in a similar fashion. That is so unfair.

I got a call from my local Nissan stealer this week to let me know that the much awaited 350Z Roadster - about which I have been dreaming for months - was finally on their showroom floor. I've had Nissan's 350Z Roadster screen saver on my computer for a couple of months now, so I knew what to expect, or so I thought. I've been wondering all along what it would look like with the top UP. And frankly, it's not too bad. I've grown to like the Boxster with top up or down, but I'm not sure yet if the Z appeal carries through with the Roadster. The cowl-like surfaces behind the seats are a little too obtrusive - not to mention great bug catchers. But the biggest surprise was that the top is single-ply canvas without any kind of noise or temperature insulation. That's a pretty big deal when you live in Texas where it was 100F and 90% humidity today. But maybe a real convertible enthusisast like me could learn to live with that shortcoming. The big disappointment was that the incredible design lines and beauty of the hardtop are totally, in my opinion, totally lost on the Roadster. The powerful, beautiful, compelling, sexy visual appeal of the coupe is altogether lost on the convertible and it is thus relegated to novelty - cute - stature. I've owned at least 5 convertibles in my life and am usually willing to make the accompanying sacrifices. This time, I don't think so. I'm going for the coupe instead. I guess I'll just stick my head out the window when I feel the need.

i would have to say that the 350z is the muscle car of japan. not only does it have the power, but it also has the look. the roadster version is what you need if you live in a state like california. no, the 350z isnt able to beat the top skylines. how are you supposed to beat a $90,000 monster with a $30,000 beast? but dont forget that it took awile for the skyline to be suped up to its legendary reputation. who knows, the 350z might surpass the skyline. i doubt it, seeing how the skyline had awd. yes, any car that costs $30,000 is cheap. just look at the new evo8 and wrx sti.

I had the pleasure of purchasing this car in November of 2002. Of course living in Michigan I have not had the pleasure of driving this car until now. I have owned many of sport cars in the past and would classify my Z not at the top of my list but far from the bottom as well. I see the comments comparing this car to the Skyline. Now we all know the Skyline is not a car that is commonly seen pulling up to a light in the USA and because of its rarity in the States the passion for the car is much greater. THIS CAR IS NOT A SKYLINE! It does however have a great past and now with a new look and the Roadster not far behind the future does look good. As for the price It was a concern of mine when I purchased this machine. That concern is very much left in the dust, this is a solid racecar that handles the road better then any rear wheel car I have driven in a very long time. This car definitely put a smile on my face not just with the power, handle and the thought of future plans for the car, meaning turbo, convertible, maybe even an all wheel drive version like the popular Audi TT, but the price as well. Which of course with the future changes, should drive the price up on the vehicle. The interior, one word, SIMPLE. I have the navigation which is convenient and gives a flashy look with the screen in the middle but that doesnt change the fact that you know where the money is in this ride. Performance, braking, and exterior design. Not the interior! For the price I give this car a perfect 10 for the vehicle itself7 with a future for improvement.

the VQ35DE is one of the most incredible engines ever. the skyline might have a better track record and a better history (not that the Zs dont have their own) but the 350s just getting started. i cant wait till tuners start super/turbocharging these amazing cars.

Let me congratulate you because what you say about the Nissan 350Z Roadster is all true, and I also want to tell you that I agree with you in that one. Well, to give my opinion about this car I'm gonna say that it is not too bad but it is not like a skyline I mean let's be real in a scale of 1 to 10 this car is like a 1 and the skyline is the 10.

This car is really the perfect convertable at a perfect price: For those of you who think that this car is cheap, I will tell you that you're absolutely wrong... If you don't believe me, just check out the articles in Car and Driver or Motor Trend on the Z. If I could have one convertable in this price range, (30,000 or so) this would be the one.
I will tell you why its so cheap

Your first problem is that you think that a 30,000 dollar car is cheap. Your next problem is that you are obviously not a marketing major. They priced the Z as they did so that they could sell more of them. If they wanted to recreate the skyline, they would have. That was not their intention. They wanted to make an all new car that looks incredible, to put into the american market to compete with other two-seaters in its price range. And if all you are concerned about is interior luxury, then maybe a enthusiasts sports car that looks great with unbeatable performance for the price is not for you.
its still not skyline great though

I have to say but if you are looking for the ultimate nissan it just has to be the skyline. No other nissan in its whole glorious history can ever match the nissan skyline in terms of looks, dynamics and performance. Now they came up with this, the little 350Z. It looks absolutely sensational but its a little dissapointing on the inside. The interior is no match even for the audi TT but then again audi is still and will always be the benchmark in interior quality. I had the pleasure of seeing a very striking dark red one literally fly past me on the road(well i was at the bustop) and i was stunned and thats just the coupe. I had seen that car in the showrooms and in motorshows but those are nothing compared to what i saw on the road. It looks like a bullet on the move. You could see the curvy lines and those arches are just filled up with massive wheels. This is a very nice car with beautiful looks. Basically there is only one thing wrong with this car which is actually a good thing, why is it so cheap?!?!?!?
 Very nice!

I have to congratulate Nissan on a job well done. The coupe version of the 350Z is spectacular, and now that there's a roadster version, the Z will live on for a long time! I can't wait to see this car and, hopefully, drive one!
 Amazing car
