you know caterham developed a normally aspirated 230bhp 1.8 that can be tuned by multisport to 240bhp, I.E the same as the S2000 but with less weight. On the downside, the low resistance silencer probably makes it sound like a superbike... |

"What the Elise loses in a straight line (quite quick actually) it makes up for with its go kart like handling, or so I've heard. I think (as previously stated) that they should put a S2000 VTEC (not TECH ;)) engine. I am not sure how heavy the engine is, but if it is mid mounted, all the more weight to the rear wheels! I sure wouldn't object to a 240hp/153lbs/ft 1650 pound Elise..." |
| Most efficient car ever!! |

This machine with 135hp has a 0-60 in only 5.2 seconds. That is incredible, even lamborghini or ferrari have ever made such a fast car out of a little engine (1.8L). Imagine a Lotus with the same tecnology as the Elise but with 300hp, it would be a Rocket, or faster!!! |
| Cool... |

Great car, I wish they sold them in the states. I am just wondering why they stick with the Rover engine?? Why not use a Honda 2.0 VTECH, or a the VW 1.8 Turbo. It must be a packaging problem, but just imagine how much fun this car could be with another 50 horses pushing it around. |
| And up goes the weight |
| kudosdude 12-5-2003 |
Call me a sceptic (no I haven't driven this derivative) but is the extra weight worth the HP increase? 720 Kg + 122 bhp for the Elise series II 757 Kg + 135 bhp for the Elise II 135R Calling all owners . . . Ta |
