| Sporting? well a bit.. |
| crankcase 16-2-2004 |
"I own one. Its not fast so the the ""sporting"" tag is a bit cheeky by Fiat, however no more cheeky than most manufacturers so called ""sport"" models. However it is fun. The engine revs freely to 6500RPM and the six speed gearbox is great. Handling is good, its safe and predictable for inexperienced drivers, but not the proper hot hatch lift off oversteer experience. As for ride, the car loses composure on bumpy roads. Its well equipped and cheap to buy and run (35mpg when thrashed, 50 if driven like a saint). I reckon the older, slower Mk2 was actually a better car and better looking too (no silly grill). Its extremely practical, you can fit almost anything in the back with the seats folded down, but that isn't a priority for hot hatch buyers. Overall a good first car for cash strapped youths who can't afford a proper hot hatch." |

I think the Italian use of the word Sporting is at odds with the English version. |
