The 6.0 litre Ford powerstroke motor is by far the most powerful engine you can buy in a consumer level pickup truck. Beating out Dodge's cummins, and Chevy's duramax by a fair margin. The total weight of the truck is due in part to the large weight of the engine. But this is not a bad thing. The heavier the truck, the higher its gross towing rating. These ARE trucks by the way, not mini-vans. Diesel technology in the last few years has grown by leaps and bounds and is on course to be competitive with gas powered engines in the very near future. There are numerous 14 second Ford powerstrokes at the racetrack as we speak (www.dhraonline.com) and a few 11 and 12 sec diesel trucks also. Not bad for a truck that gets up to 20mpg and can tow a house off its foundation. For more information on Ford Powerstrokes and diesel technology, go to www.thedieselstop.com |
| Beautiful Truck |
| ravancejr 18-7-2003 |
Ever since I got my two tone 2003 Harely Davidson F-150 I have been really into Ford. Seems there quality in making trucks has gone up alot. The F-350 is the perfect example. I love my Harley because I can beat out any truck on the road except for the Lightning. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds it even beats the Silverado SS which is at 6.2 seconds. In a quater mile run the Harley leaves the SS in the dust big time. There is no truck that out right now that is more beautiful. I no a man in my neighborhood who has a SS he wants to take it back and get a Harley instead. |

althoug i dont really like ford at all this is a pretty cool truck. Also i dont really like canadians either but i have to agree with i am a canadian on the whole torque thing. if you buy a truck to go out and race it then you are pretty stupid. trucks are made for towing capacity. i think 500+ pounds of tourqe is plenty for towing any thing that you might need to tow. |
| 325 hp with a turbocharged V8 engine? |
| Mexicancarlover 11-7-2003 |
mmmmmmmmm, I'm not sure about this, but shouldn't a turbocharged engine like that one should have more power?, although it's got a great torque, I mean, that's what you look for in a truck, I think the engine is a little wrong in that way. It is a great truck, and I'm sure it can hold lots and lost of weigh, I like it very much, I think that I'm gonna buy one, well, that will be if it comes to Mxico, if not I will have to stay with the Lobo Harley Davison, although this new F350 is big and heavy I'm pretty sure it will provide all the fun you can ask for in this type of vehicle, just like the lobo. |
| Power isn't everything |
| I am Canadian 11-7-2003 |
Look motor_boy.. Power isn't everything. Espesially in this truck. Look at the torque... 559.5 ft lbs@2000. To me that's good. Power and high horsepower is good in cars but in a truck, you want high torque and this truck has it. |
| Lack of power ain't it? |
| motor_boy 9-7-2003 |
Look, I know this is a great truck and averything, but, I think the engine is just a little useless, if you realize the weight of that beast the engine becomes ridiculous don't you think? |
