i have been fascinated with this car for quite some time, and I still don't know when this is going to come out for real. And by the way, does anyone find it suspicious that the limited top speed, 218 mph is .5 mph, or 1kph faster than the ferrari enzo's 217.5 mph?

Hard not to understand the problems in development of this car(?). Cooling that monster motor & keeping weights & drag down, a major issue! Exhaust systems might be rather heavy too . All said it will be interestig to see what new innovations in technology & especially in brake technology (considering its weight) it will harald.
 It weighs HOW MUCH?

"1900kg????!!! Is that accurate? What the hell are Bugatti thinking of? Anyone can dump a nuclear-powered engine into something that weighs as much as a tank and watch it fly to the moon at supersonic speed; it's quite another thing to build and refine a machine that will deploy its power intelligently through a chassis which has been sensitively engineered by free-thinking engineers. Do they honestly expect this monster to rival the Mclaren F1 in any way whatsoever? From the quoted figure it weighs 800kg more than the Macca. 0-60? Pah! A rocket-sled can do a quick 0-60, the point about a car is that it should be able to turn corners as well. This bungled and misconceived supercar serves only to illustrate Gordon Murray's fantastic vision with the Macca, and underlines that car as the greatest of them all."

i don't know about you guys, but i think they blew the interior BIG TIME, the concepts all before this production versions interiors were GORGEOUS i mean look at the dash, just your everyday run of the mill dilas and whatnot, while the production with that 250+ speedo and then the inside the speedo it have a digital % gaughe showing how much of the engines total power was being used.....and the 1 carat diamond looks like its nowhere to be found. I used to have the Interior shots of the 2003 car as my Desktop and now......i honestly can't stand looking at the 2004 version....just a large dissapoointment for me.

I just read an article the other day that stated this car will be in excess of $1.4 million American. A deposit somewhere in the neighborhood of $470,000 American will be needed to secure your name on the list of a lucky few who will be able to purchase this awesome automobile. I have no doubt that Bugatti will sell every last Veyron, and still have people disappointed they couldn't get in line fast enough.

"With all the chassis gadgets, all-wheel drive and a powerful, large capacity engine, I see this car in much the same light as the Mitsubishi. I see it as a car that is wickedly, effortlessly fast but doesn't offer the same sense of involvement, the tactility, the excitement, as a ""lesser"" Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini or Porsche. I think that in the effort to create the world's fastest ever production car Volkswagen have overlooked something that the cars from the other marques mentioned simply ooze - character."

This car simply goes fast, but as someone said, handling isnt good, or cooling, so the question remains: Will this car be as good as it should? The answer: probably not. It had great speed, acceleration, bhp, and torque, but I'm not a good fan of its styling. Also, will it be possible to race in it? Again, probably not, due to the handling and cooling problems, not to mention they probably wont make a race version, its an incredibly fast car, but, well, not as good as it should be. The speed again, its going down too? well, that adds a little dissapointment, 252 mph is awesome, but theyhad best not fool with the awesome acceleration, which will probably be the best thing about this car, and horsepower, too is going down, it seems like the auto industry is killing its majesty...
 boss sacked

The same article on the AMS website also mentions that VW knew about the problems for a year and the boss of the Bugatti department was sacked because of the less than flawless design. This may just prove the level of ambition that Mr. Piech had, irrespective of the fact that VW had no experience with high speed cars at all. He just wanted to have the biggest .. (how childish)

"According to www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/d/43622 due to the Veryon's rather unstable straight line speed, (the translation I worked out says ""straight line discharge"" ??), It will NOT be allowed to achieve its 406km/h potential, but will be limited to a rather dissapointing 330km/h. This dodgy handling cannot be altered without a major redesign of the body, which is a bit late now. You would have thought they would have tested this earlier, before making all of these impressive assumptions regarding its performance, or at least held back their figures since, according to the aforementioned article, these handling concerns where known internally for the last year. The article also seems to add that 1001 hp will not be neccessary; (translation) ""also no more 1001 HP necessary, with which itself the problems with the cooling of the engine, the highly loaded transmission and the special manufactured tires."" There ""may"" (yet more rumours) be a derestricted version with many wings 'n' things attached to aid with the aerodynamics that could run at the advertised 406km/h, however I doubt it will retain the grace of the proposed original."

bugatti have accomplished what many people believed was impossible. i know that many still prefer the f1 but just bcoz it holds the world's fastest car record doesnt mean that no other car can be made faster.if the veyron doesnt break the f1's record then someday some other car will, maybe a newer mclaren may break the record.as far as the design is concerned i'm still doubtful.the downside is that it may consume barrels of petrol for its huge engine.that problem could be solved if the engine could shut off half of its cylinders when not needed just like the cadillac sixteen. then there's also the heavy price tag [rumoured to be over a million $] i dont think i'll ever see it here in dubai.
