 Why only 300?

Nothing to do with production capacity. Simply to do with European Union import quotas. There will only ever be a max of 500 of these coming to Europe per year which means they're always going to be rare. This hopefully means good residual values too. When you add these financial considerations into the equation is makes the Monaro even more attractive - but then, I'm biased, I've order one.

The Holden Monaro is the car Vauxhall are getting, not the HSV GTO Coupe. Only 300 are coming because production will only allow that many, as Australia only sells about 6000 a year and we've just started sending 18000 a year to America badged as Pontiac GTO's. The Falcon is in a worse situation, in that we're having enough trouble producing enough cars for our own demand, let alone export demand. The current Falcon would only have success in the UK with its LPG engine as the petrol engines would be too expensive to run in the UK

Vauxhall only have a poor image because of all the cars developed within GM Europe, they have refused to build some quite whizzy beasties. Designed by people with flair, toned down by their bosses, and ruined by committees who feel that Granny might scare herself when she takes it shopping. Granny doesn't by loopy hot cars. Pug built the 205GTi 1.9 which was lighter than a paper bag, and about as strong as a wet version of the same, but performed like a mad thing on drugs. The sold by the shedload. There are estimated around 2000 Nova's & Corsa's with 2L 16v engines in them hurling around Britain's roads, a car that GM Europe wouldn't put into production because it was too quick for granny! Moving up to today, they have a new verve, cars like the Monaro show that the old boring image is on the way out, and please please please, bring the Commodore over here, and I'll junk my Omega, which wasn't a patch on my old Senator. There is no substitute for cubic inches, look at how many Ford F150's are being sold in the UK & Europe now! 3000 per year would be more like it. The price is right. The car is right, now sell sell sell sell! Thankyou Vauxhall for waking up and smelling the coffee. Now, Henry, we need to sit down and have a talk. That Falcon that you build in Oz... you know it's right hand drive, and well, can you put some on a boat......well a lot of them... Rob
Vauxhall just don't get it do they!

When will Vauxhall realise that they have a really bad image? It seems they think that if they release a really good car that was made by somebody else, they will gain street cred. Example: The VX220 - Made by Lotus but has a Vauxhall badge. Not a huge seller but the Lotus Elise is selling like tickets to a Madonna concert. But why buy a Ferrari that has a Skoda badge? And now they have done it again: The Monaro - Originally the Holden HSV Coupe - A car with loads of street cred (and a better name). I think it's time Vauxhall woke up and smelled what they are shoveling!
