the 5.4L in the falcon is a long stroke motor so the block is fairly tall and wide, thats why ford had issues fitting it in the falcon. the 5.0L in this focus is a bored 4.6L and uses the same size block which is a fairly small one. im more impressed that they went with a RWD drivetrain |
Pokemon, Literally! |

Ford has created in this new Focus RS8 the literal meaning of Pokemon, or Pocket Monster. A Ford Focus with rwd and a high-output v8 is a scary thought. This car is going to be capable of dangerously fast speeds. If they leave well enough alone and use a beefed-up version of the Focus SVT suspension, it should handle like a dream as well. The consersion kit for rwd is expected to be out next year for $5,000. Hopefully they will be able to use the stock 4-cylinder with this kit as well as the v8. Who wouldn't want a rwd Focus for only 5k more than the sticker? The v8 will be about 14k:( too bad. |
Unbelievable! |

Far out! I never thought it would be possible to drop such a big motor into a Ford Focus, of all cars! I'm absolutely amazed about that, since they struggled to fit such an engine even into Australia's Ford Falcon. I don't know how they managed to fit it into a Focus if it barely fits in a Falcon. This little car would be capable of reaching frightening speeds. So much power and torque in a light-weight body is sure to result in more than impressive acceleration. Quite frankly, it'd be scary. What an awesome car!! |
