 About the comparison to the S600...

 Yes the S600 may accelerate a bit faster (according to manufacturers' quotes) but that's because it's twin turbocharged. If Audi wanted, they could put the twin turbo W12 from the Bentley Continental GT coupe which makes 550 hp and smoke the Benz. That would conflict with the prestige of the Bentley so that's probably why they didn't do it. Maybe we'll see an RS8 with a tuned version of that engine but don't get your hopes up as the chances of that are slim.

 Wow! This car is great. A bold new face just adds to its image. I really think Audi have finally got a corporate look to all that it can put on all its models, like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But I was left feeling one thing: the Mercedes-Benz S600L has got 33kw more but roughly the same power-to-weight ratio, yet gets from 0-100km/h in 4.8sec vs 5.2 for the Audi. And remember the Audi has also got AWD. Add more luxury and THAT star upfront and I don't know how Audi are going to sell the A8L to anyone considering the S600L.

 It is about time that Audi got a large powerful engine in their flagship car. They have been behind BMW, Mercedes, and Jaguar for too long. This car deserves to sell.
