Is anyone else as disappointed as me that modern Ferraris are succombing more and more to corporate branding? I realise that Philip Morris and Vodafone spend a truckload of money sponsoring Ferrari, but if you look at the F2002 and F2003-GA, there is more and more white on the car, and less and less red. At least the F2001 shown here has red barge boards and predominantly red engine cover. In 2002, this changed to mainly white to placate the Marlboro men. In fact, the trend for the Marlboro logos to grow annually dates right back to the early 1990s. If you go back to the 642 of 1991, and then look at each successive model, you can see the Marlboro (and other) logos increasingly dominating the cars' bodywork. Sad, but still, they are winning again, so we can't complain too much! |
