| Black Beauty, and usable too! |
| Neill Fraser 30-8-2004 |
"She looks great doesn't she? A copy by Erdmann & Rossi of the Owen Sedanca design produced for H R Owen by Gurney Nutting, as confirmed by the original build sheet instruction to ""make it like in the photos"". Built for a Herr Nagelschmidt in Berlin, delivered Jan 1938, sold in Uk by Jack Barclay in late 1939 as a James Young sedanca, and known as such until restoration in 1980s by Dick Scott and D&D Restorations in Ohio. Appeared at Pebble Beach in 1980s. She was driven to and from Dusseldorf for the European Concours 2004 from Scotland, outwards via Rosyth-Zeebrugge ferry and on the way back travelling from Dorset to Glasgow virtually non-stop in 10 hours in terrible weather. A unique body on a chassis that today is ranked by connoisseurs as one of the most usable from the pre-war period. A pleasure to drive and completely reliable!" |
