| The new Supra, or Lexus supercar ? |
| sjdover69 02-18-2005 |
Shifting the Supra into it's luxury Lexus brand, Toyota is making a move on the more established sportscars. The question remains, have the petrolheads of the 80's and 90's earnt enough to buy a Lexus ? And, will the yuppie's and young bussinessmen of today be swayed from their Porsches and Ferrari's ? Still unknown is how many cars for the first run. Is this just marketing or a real car? Also note the concept twin rear radiators (with extraction fans) and side intakes. Will look like jet engines from the rear, but in practice may be a bit naff. With the fan base of the Supra and the Lexus IS300, this car in sufficient qualtities could make a serious challenge, and change a generations perceptions of Japanese sportscars. However I believe it's a risk that Toyota will try, but not commit to. Expect a run of 500 cars? |
