whoever complains about this car doesn't have a clue about cars. i have been a mechanic for 29 years and there is no car that comes close to a mercedes, especially the S class. BMW is a good car, but its electronics tend to fuk up once in while. go to a poor country where the roads are all jacked up and you will see that the only cars that last there are mercedes. it;s a whole different engineering.

I saw the new S-Class a few days ago on the German autobahn. on the rear it said "Werkswagen". I know the rear may not look good in pictures, but i can assure you that it looks GREAT in real life!... thats all i had to say:D
When you're the best its difficult to keep it so foreve

When I saw the notice of S 500 I really hoped it would be as nice as it used to be, but its not like that. Mercedes cars in general have always had a lot of class. That class that BMW has always tried to reach and thats the reason they started with the completly new models. Im affraid in the luxury sedans category this time like not any other time the 7-th series its a bit better then s class. I really hoped this would have still been the best but its not.
 Is it still the Mercedes

The headlamps interconnection with the curves like the ford focus, the inside arm rest exactly taken from the BMW 7 series. The wood in the dash board is also BWM typically. The Multifunction screen is in the same place the I-Drive is located. What is left??? the multifunction screen is merged in the meter console .. This is the new Audi A6... Excuse me, that is not the S-class i was waiting for
 why oh why?

Why do you have to copy 7-series trunk? Why? It's so... ugly. Otherthan that the car looks good. Still prefer the current generation though.
 didnt like the styling

i personnaly didnt liked the styling , sorry, this is not merc. Wheel arches are not merc, head lamps are not merc, tail lights are not merc, even curves are not merc. I cannot even see german roots in it. The wheel arches seem more like mazda rx8/ mazda 3 .. tail lights .. hmm... maybach thingie !?!?.. :S

I really don't like German cars, their product quality and reliability has gone down considerably in the past decade or so. I mentioned this on the Merc CLS500, but I'm a huge fan of BMW, however it's Mercedes-Benz that's taking back the market with good cars. Looking at the styling outside and inside (where it counts on luxo saloons), this is one high quality vehicle. It has a better powertrain than Mercedes's normal 500 models (i.e. V8 302hp 339lb-ft) and the interior is gorgeous! This should blow the 7-series out of the water and really only compete with the A8L on the German market (although who wouldn't prefer the three pointed star?). It has a longer wheelbase, providing more backseat room, and luxury and technology enough to satisfy anyone in the market (unless you can afford a Maybach). My only setback is that the driver's console copied the 7-series a little too much, and I hope Mercedes didn't try to invent an iDrive (noooo!). But to me, in a car like this, the back seat is what counts, and that's where this excels. The SLK350, CLS55 AMG, SL65 AMG, and now the new S500... when I can afford it, put me down for one. My parents could, maybe I'll recommend it to them. That would be good...
 Maybach or Honda?

there is lots of styling taken from the Maybach, wheel arches and rear lamps, which is GREAT!!!, but the front headlamps seem to be typical of a Honda Civic or Accord.... Dont like them!
