 M5 competitor? Methinks not

Rather wait for the RS6. And the Quattro vs. RWD thing, well yeah, those who prefer AWD will most likely find the Audi's increased traction heavenly. Those who prefer RWD dynamics (me being one) will still opt for the Beemer's layout. Sure, you can claim the Audi will perform better in rain or snow (rain being debatable), but I wouldn't want to go fast in such weather on public roads anyway. And lest we forget, more traction does not equal more grip and last time I checked, Quattros had but 4 patches of rubber connecting them to Terra Firma, just like a Beemer, Merc or Skoda for that matter.
But I guess it's tit for tat. The RS6 will most likely have Quattro AWD with 50:50 split torque (or will it be 60:40?), the Beemer has 50:50 weight distribution. The RS6 will probably be faster around a wet-track, the Beemer will most likely be fastest around a dry track.
Then there's the styling which let's face it isn't proving a thing - the much critisized styling on the 5 seems to attract more buyers than the E39's styling ever did. The Audi has been hailed as elegant, timeless ...and boring.
I say one is a great car, the other will probably be a great car and this S6 isn't too shabby either. Just take your pick and be merry.
 V-10: Take 2

As a pretty unpopular amount of cylinders, the V-10 finds another victim: the new S6. The most recent member of ten cyninders went to the acclaimed M5, which happens to be a fairly close competitor to the S6 (RS6 anyone?). One key element that this vehicle has that the M5 does not, is all-wheel-drive. This great feature, though giving off some extra weight, is a specialty that the snowy states will certainly accept gladly. Hats off to you Audi, for going the extra mile with a vehicle that will blow the doors off the 545i, and yearns to produce a possible M5 slayer, the RS6.
