R4 arrived in NZ, for Peter Yock, with a BRM engine, which proved rather fragile. It was sold and re-appeared with a Daimler 2.5 V8 in the rear! Later it was re-engined with a 1600 Ford T/C engine and raced by Peter Hughes in the late 60's early 70's. |

Originally conceived by Colin Chapman with a "column gearchange" in order to keep width of cockpit to a minimum, that is a lever fitted on the steering column, moved up or down to select gears, as fitted to some road cars of the time. |
