The S80 for the first time will also be available with Volvo's in-house developed narrow angle V8. If performance is at stake, then the car will be on par with the German competition and a very good alternative to these bread-and-butter cars.... |

There really isn't much to compete against nationally when it comes to the two Swedes in America for Volvo. Considering that the "Saab" that once existed is now a quasi-American brand offering an American SUV and a pretty-boy Japanese hatch. But this S80 is pathetic. Though there will be more powerful powerplants in the future, this 3.2 is just not going to hold up against the German and Japanese luxury brands (who really cares about Saab, let's be honest). Other than that, the vehicle is much better on the eyes than the outgiong model while still holding the key Volvo design cues (again, unlike its direct competitor, Saab). |
