To begin with, it is a Lotus Exige S, not a Lotus Elise S, easy mistake to make. Secondly, there are many legal issues in the US that do not apply to the UK. Lotus is only a small company and for them, it is incredibly hard to afford to produce a different car for different people. They have already spent a large sum of money on legalising and marketing the Elise in the US. There is also a more physical reason why Lotus will struggle in an American market; their cars are tiny. It is evident from the recent SUV craze that the majority of America likes things that are big and brash. The Exige is lightweight and built for B-roads, not highways. However, if an American is really desperate for the car, there are American companies that will supercharge a standard Exige (which IS availible in the US), giving it the potential of going even faster than the Exige S. The price? about $15k and a void warranty :D |

Lotus elise S is/will be the ultimate sport car anywhere else in the world ( Europe and Japan) except in the USA. I can't believe Lotus is not bringing the car for the USA market, don't like it at all. They should learn from Volkswagen that after having a crash in the american market have hired the moonraker team from California to understand the U.S market. and I hope they produce the GX3. In the USA we like top of the line products. It is a very competitive market. The lotus elise s will be a superhit!!!! I think Lotus is making a huge mistake not bringing the elise s to the USA, and It is an insult to all of the american race car fans not to offer the elise s to us. I hope they read this comment and bring it here ASAP. |

Lotus stunned the world over a decade ago when they brought out the Elise and Exige, respectively. After only a year in the American market, the crazy Brits are tempting us (as well as the rest of the world) again with this gem. What in the world could make the Exige a better car? Why not add a supercharger? Brilliant! |
