Leon was the son of George Gordon Bachelier from his first of three wives, and the grandson of Leon George Bachelier, a chauffeur (to Sir Norman Forbes-Robinson, the actor, amongst others) who occasionally called himself George Baxter, and George and his brother Leslie, ran a garage in Putney Hill and used to race Bugattis on the side. Leon George's father was Leon Bachelier who was born in Paris in 1844 and was a chef or chief cook, family legend placing this at the Langham Hotel in London, but I cannot go further back than that. Leon George married my great aunt Daisy Laura Warwick, so Leon Donald is my first cousin, once removed. |

Does anyone know more about this model. I believe that it was built for a Lord Bachelier, or at least in his name. You will see my interest! My ex-husband Richard was the son of George Gordon Bachelier and nephew of Leslie Bachelier.He knows that his father raced Bugattis and that his grand-father Leon Georges Bachelier moved to England to race here. Nothing further is known about Leon, does anyone have any information about him and is there a family connection with Lord Bachelier? Richard never knew about the Bachelier Roadster and in curious to find out more. Thank you |
