| It was almost scrapped |
| SPman 10-13-2016 |
M8A/2 came to New Zealand with Denny Hulme after he retired, with the intention of rebuilding and racing it. It was in a sad state, having been relegated to "display car" status, no motor and a mish-mash of body parts and panels. It was semi derelict for many years and after squabbles over ownership, especially after Denny's death, it was almost disposed off! Gifted to the Bruce Mclaren Trust, it was eventually superbly rebuilt by a small band of gifted workers and returned to the track in 2013. It was sad to see it sold, but the money is being put to good use and I believe it's in a good home. |
