Road America Win, Harley Earl Trophy |
csl177 03-20-2018 |
Wouter, years ago I found the trophy awarded to Gaston Andrey and Lance Reventlow for their Road America 500 win... in a Palm Beach thrift store! With assistance from Cavallino's historian who provided Pierre Bardinon's address, I sent two letters offering to send it to him over the course of as many years but never got a reply. The trophy is actually the Harley Earl Trophy, engraved with the winners names and the car's S/N. It was finally reunited with 0674 not long after the new owner acquired the car. I have a photo of the trophy if you like. |
probably the ULTIMATE, indeed |

back in the day (1960) when I was a kid in Marlboro, MD the pictures of this car are what caused me to become interested in "sports cars" and road racing - this is what a sports car is supposed to be and look like - today's stuff, while obviously more technically astute and with more reliable mechanical components, just cannot compare ... THANKS, this is why I appreciate ultimatecarpage, |
