I've always regarded the F1GTR as the most outstanding modern day example of a car that was built for the road and more than capable of an outstanding race performance. My other yard stick in this category is the Ferrari F40, but I doubt it would be as tractable and comfortable on the road as the 'Big Mac'. To this day I doubt any manufacturer has come close to the balance of road manners and race performance. |

IMO the McLAREN F1 road car and its variants ARE the best supercars ever made. A car of impeccable design intelligence and engineering. I was staggered by awe when it was launched in 1993 and 17 years later it still has me gobsmacked. Just like a Turner, a Van Gough or a Picasso, it's a work of inspired and timeless genius - a masterpiece forever and I'm so happy I was around to delight in its creation. |
