| I always loved OSCA's |
| fairlyoldguy 03-22-2010 |
Someone (was it Doug Nye?)wrote that, by definition, most race cars are unsuccessful. But, they are almost always interesting; this OSCA certainly fits the bill. As I type this, I have a copy of Orsini & Zagari's "OSCA -La Rivincita Dei Maserati" at hand. A most desirable book, although with only one year of college Italian, I can't read with full comprehension. (However, Orsini & Zagari's Maserati book was issued in English, but very poorly translated.)In my teenage years, OSCA's were quite common here in the USA, running in the traditional engine classes of 750, 1100, and 1500 cc. I often saw them run at the Vineland, NJ track. Only the 750's were truly successful, as the 1100's were generally beaten by Lotus XI's, and the 1500's could not come near the Porsche RS and RSK, which, at Vineland, were driven by the likes of Bob Holbert and the young Roger Penske. |
