 The 'Bluggly

and all we have to do is wait for the inevitable backlash to end the bloated and baleful front, side and rear butt ugly cars.

Methinks the "emperor's new clothes" syndrome is alive and well in the car industry right now fueled by the new car design emperor Chris Bangle, design chief of BMW - let's hop on to the new bandwagon so we are not seen as second-rate.

Ironic to me that while car makers are giving us the most refined cars ever in terms of engineering and electronic goodies they are serving them up in such bizarre and awkward clothes - almost as if most of the 'smarts' and the R&D is going to non-aesthetic values

Well fashion comes and fashions go but I wonder how much of this current 'bluggyness' is caused by the bureaucrats incessant demands for more safety in cars and the regulations imposing such things as minimum air gaps between a car's 'hard' structures and the body e.g. engine and bonnet
I guess it had to come to this..

wow i can't believe they pulled it off. i really thought the E-class couldn't be worse and they just made it worse.....
and for the interior it looks a bit cheap to me and the gear lever is exactly like the one in the previous BMW 7-series
 just ugly

I completely agree. Especially the rear looks way too much something Kia or Hyundai would do. MB is intentionally searching a new look for their cars' rear ends (C, CL). This far I think this new E is the worst effort.
 What a shame...

This car might as well be designed by Hyundai. It looks hideous. They have taken a beautiful car and replaced it with something that looks generic and quite distasteful.
