In all fairness, the GTS is meant to extract every last tenth out of the car, hence the reason why a DCT tranmission is used. The focus of the car is track speed, not taking it out on a coastal drive, hence its unlikely a GTS would be ordered with a conventional stick shift. You would assume that those who order the cars aren't your regular daily commuters. |

I agree with you that it is a great effort of BMW introducing such a stripped out M3 version, however, I think they should at least offer a six-speed manual transmission. I know that for pure laptimes a DCT may be the faster way to go, however there are very few driver's who are able to take advantage of those extra tenths of a second gained using a DCT. So in the end it all comes down to the sheer driving experience and pleasure of driving at the limit and in my opinion there is to little of an effort to make, to few challenges to master such as heel-and-toeing. That may as well be a question of taste. In any case I think they should offer a manual transmission solely marketingwise. Nevertheless it is a great car with a hefty price tag. |

A good move by BMW to continue development of its performance image on a par w/ Ferrari, Porsche, Audi. BMW Motorsports should create a Challenge series where sportsmen can participate, as an adjunct to their continuation w/ professional GT and Touring Car programs. |
