I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but: It's not as if the current generation of GM small-block V8s are lacking in tech. Sure, they feature architecture sourced in the 50s, but it's not as if an LS3/7/9 shares anything with an old 283 or 327. These are lightweight, modern power plants, that cost a fraction of what you'd pay for something with 4 cams, that would weigh more, and generate less torque.

The Stealth is primarily a track car, and as such, weight is paramount. Using a 4-cam V8 from a European source would only add weight and cost. It's not as if US manufacturers haven't shown a willingness to design new, multi-cam, multi-valve engines (Ford, Cadillac, Olds...), but the push-rod V8 remains a suitable motor for a car of this sort.

Astonishing car with an old engine.
Every time the same architecture V8, the same 2 valves, only bigger cu.
When the american car industry will produce a new engine with more tech?
