| Ultima GTR |

This is a great car (not the most beautifull) but you cant compare this to saleen, zonda etc.... its cheap but it isnt a true supercar |
| incredible car |
| Sweeney921 19-5-2004 |
"I think that he was saying ""cheap"" in a comparative way. If you think about it for 2 seconds, this car truly is COMPARATIVELY cheap! The Ultima GTR was in fact used to test the performance of the McLaren F1. I think that says plenty in terms of comparative cheapness, since it can compete with a $1M car, yet doesn't have ownership costs of over $100K (I have a price list that was sent to me direct from the factory). Incredible. I'm seriously planning the arrival of my own GTR-pieces-in-a-box." |

Gnafu, if you are goin to spend the ungodly amount of money to buy one of these speeding deathtraps. You would not want to put some puny mustang motor. Get something more like a chevy 383 stroker, that will turn those tires. |
| Your mustang |
| xbobsmithx 10-7-2003 |
Sorry, but no Ford Mustang will ever match an Ultima GTR on any track. Yes, with a monster motor you could equal the quarter mile times, but that's about it. The chasis of the mustang is clearly inferior to any real sports car, let alone a race car like the Ultima. |
| Did you mean 5.0 liter? |
| BlackMustang 24-6-2003 |
"I don't want to turn this into a mustang forum but no such 3.6 liter mustang engine exists. It's either a 2.3 liter inline four or a 5.0 liter V-8. One more thing Gnafu, don't call your mustang ""sucky"". For a hell of a lot less money than buying one of these, you could actually make your mustang out perform this wallet killer. Not just in a straight line either, but on a road course too. Of Course you won't turn as many heads though!" |
| This thing is so good, it should be called... |

...the Ultimate CAR. This thing is awesome, I wish I had a chance to at least ride in one. I've been looking over the official site, it's awesome. $89,000 for the already put together car, minus the engine, then another $20-50,000 for engine and transaxle (don't rely on my words, but they're about right), makes this the best car for the money. This is better than the Saleen S7, the Carrera GT, and so many other awesome cars that cost 2-10 times as much. I know, I'm saying what everyone's already said, but I wanted to say it again. Also, does anyone know if I could fit a 3.6 liter 1986 Mustang LX engine in this thing? I know, sucky car, but it's all I've got and I wanna know if it'd be worth trying to get a used body from one of these things. |

I wonder ... has anyone fitted a diffrent engine on this car , other then the Americanspeed V8 Chevy they recomend ? I?m thinking something like the TVR?s Speed 12 engine or the Spyker stage V engine ... |
| Ultima GTR v.s. Noble |
| el diablo 12-3-2003 |
The Noble is a lovely car, a real achivement considering it was originally designed by one bloke in his shed, however comparing it's performance to an Ultima GTR is ridiculous if you consider the noble a junior supercar then the Ultima is a HYPERCAR - it's performance is on another level - it's of F40, F50, Maclaren F1, Pagani Zonda C12S, Bugatti EB110 and Lamborghini Diablo GT ilk. Also god only knows where they got the top speed on the stats from nearer 190mph perhaps - dependant on gearing. |
| Nice performance but.. |
| Jthedriva 19-2-2003 |
Ive got to say, yes I like kit cars, mainly for their performance (e.g. a Tiger Z100WR, 0 to 60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a 0 to 100 mph time of 6.3) and their price, which is usually very cheap if you build it yourself. The Ultima is no different it goes, thats for sure. Im just not very sure on the price. This kit costs 45000 and youre going to spend at least 5000 on other parts, tuning it, getting it road legal and obviously time spent building it. For 50000 I would prefer something like a Noble M12, it looks nicer, handles better, more comfortable and generally more usable. A Noble may not be as fast but it would definitely be just as fun, and its not exactly slow (its been known to kill Porsche GT3s around the track.) I think another thing about this car is that it doesnt really look nice. A good car, but would have a list longer than my arm of cars that I would prefer for the money though. If you want more detail about the Tiger go to http://www.tigerracing.com/frames.htm |
| About the cost... |

now, seadoomanjd, you bought a KIT ultima, and the expensive ones are already made for you. still, $60,000 is still a sizable chunk of money. well, for me at least. so cheap it ain't, entralling and exciting... maybe, never tried one.. |
| Ultimas can be cheap |
| seadoomanjd 4-10-2002 |
I don't know where you got $250,000 from but I built the ultima gtr kit about a year and by the time i was done i had only spent $60,000. My red ultima gtr has a 600hp engine from americanspeed.com and a getrag 6-speed. If you want a world class performance car for alot less cash getan ultima. |
| cheap?! |
| icedragon 16-8-2002 |
how could you possibly think that this car is cheap? I have a car calendar and the GTR is in it, (very nice pic), and it didn't look like a cheap car to me, so I did some researching on it. It costs around $250,000. If you think that's cheap, I wanna know how much money you got. |
| Something to note. |
| deuginthesky 7-8-2002 |
The Ultima chassis was used by McLaren as a base for their own chassis .If someone thinks Ultimas are just kit cars , they're very wrong .Ultimas are real supercars if you want to pay the -cheap- price for it. |
| Statistic information |
| UltimaCanAm 29-6-2002 |
I am very familiar with this car as I am in the process of buying the Can Am version. The 0-60 times are incorrect based on many various test reports I have seen. The standard Ultima GTR with 345hp chevy small block accelerates from 0-60 in 3.3 sec. I know that there can be alot of variation from one model to another because of gear ratio selection but all the Ultimas that have been tested 0-60 were the 345hp version have clocked 3.3 seconds. It can easily be assumed that the more powerful versions would be quicker. If you would like more information regarding this model or the Can Am (roadster) send me an email and I will dig it up. |
