Honda and Mugen have a close relationship, and Mugen are strongly tied with the Team Dynamics BTCC team, who race Honda Civic Type-R's in the British Touring Car Championship. Now Mugen have come up with this, I think next season they might switch cars. Most of the people who know a thing or two about the new BTCC is that there is a new regulation, the Next Generation Touring Cars (NGTCs), which have a 2 litre turbo engine. Seeing as there is no engine, Team Dynamics could put Honda's current NGTC engine inside, spec it up for the 2012 BTCC season, and test it. If it goes any faster than the Civic, great! I doubt this will happen for 2012, as the current cars are the best of the lot, but if they lag in 2012, a 2013 car is waiting! It would be a tactical move to have a road-going 2.0 Turbo. |
