 top speed

Ok, most of you wont use the top speed. Most of you think it's insane to seriously consider it. But there are just as many people like me who lost their minds a long time ago and will push any and EVERY car to it's extreme. Hell, I can get my Jeep Cherokee to top 120 (I think, numbers stop at 100 so it's a guess). I don't care how dangerous it is to my self, if it's a clear road, and I'm the only car. I'm ganna go as fast as I can for as long as I can. Yes, you MIGHT die (that's a big might in texas), but the way I see it (and many others) if your not living life to it's fullist, can you really call it living? Too fast? no such thing (except in school zones). See the beauty of such a well balanced and light car such as this... is that you can still have a blast in the turns at like 170MPH and up some times. It's only illegal if you get caught.

And for once, a beatiful NEW BMW! He may be stupid when designing new luxo-barges, but he does a good job of this classic grandtourer. my hat goes off to you, Bangle, but only for a second...

"a Z8 has just been given a 5 speed automatic gearbox with +/- steptronic manual override. I always thought that Z8 only had manual option but i was wrong. It is called the Alpina V8 Roadster. It is damn beautiful!! It has 15 spoke alloy wheels that look really nice on the car. It gets a yellow and black interior trim which suites the cars silver exterior colour. It has a slightly less tunes engine which pumps out ""only"" 378hp. The hardtop Z8 which would be coming out soon does not look as nice as the roadster Z8. Nice though!!!!"""

"Yea, very very few cars probably ever reach their top speed in thier lifetime. There is almost noplace to do it, unless you feel like defiying dath on a highway somewhere. (download the movie ""getaway in stockholm 2"", a supra and a cosworth ford hit about 300 km/h, which i'm thinkin is like in the neighborhood of 190 mph on some highway at like 4 in the morning, the best time to do it I'd say) I have hit my cars top speed, though, a cool 100+ mph in my corsica, the speedo goes up to only 85, so I had to make a general assumption that the ""P"" for park was about where 100 would be, since thats where the needle went."""

OK, than just imagine there is no limiter, because you will never ever notice its presence and do not start making noise about it.
 where to speed

Ok, ministota and the dakota's up there... there are ganna be two many people. In west Texas there are entire counties with as many as 2 people. No one NEEDS a fast car, no one NEEDS anything that'll top 100mph (caculate to Kilometers your self), no one NEEDS cable/satilite TV with 300 channels, no one NEEDS leather, heated/cooled seats, with back massagers. I mean... How often does any one really watch or even check all 300channels, how over do you drive your car naked to fully enjoy leather seats, you might use that heated feature... oooh 1 maybe even 2 months out of the year. And while the massager would probably get more use... I'm doin fine with out it. So basically, no one really NEEDS a car that'll top 155mph, but it's nice to know it's possible. And while there are a great many buyers who may never use the car to it's maximum capabilities, there are those of us who are willing to take the risks, and willing to push the limits and have the opportunities to do so. There are many things in life that no one really NEEDS, but but we do these things anyways, we buy the best & the fastest because we might want to use it some day. We take un-nessesary risks and do unnessesary things because that's called living.
 speed limiter?

Where in the USA do you think you will be able to use the full speed potential of the Z8 even if it is limited to 250 kph? The only country in the world which has no general maximum speed is Germany, and even here I can tell you from experience it is very difficult to maintain speeds of 200plus kph for more than a couple of minutes. The advised maximum speed being 130 you may like to know that if you get involved in an accident doing more than speed, you will be held partly responsible, even if according to the rules you did nothing wrong. Having done some long distance driving in the USA last year (North Dakota,Minnesota, Wisconsin, yes Road America) I found the speed limit boring, but seeing how careless others were behaving I decided to stick to the limit and not upset old grandma's driving UV's and trucks who were thinking that they owned the left lane. So do not complain about this car being limited to a speed which you absolutely will not need. Try to enjoy it on twisty roads were top speed does not matter but accelaration and roadholding does. I agree with your comments about the styling, but did you ever see the real 507 in the flesh?

"This car is amaizing. I have the pleasure of driving by one every morning in the parking garage and it's twice as nice in person. The enterior is wonderfully laid out (what else would you expect from a bimmer). I actually got to park it for the guy once and I found the seats everything about the car near perfect. To my surprise the center mounted gauges very convinient. This car has just about every thing: style, class, curves, a V8, an excelent exhaust note that has a distinctly german quality, and last but not least... performance that's gaurenteed not to dissapoint. It's a truely world class roadster surpassed only by the 360 Spider, and 550 Barchetta. So I have to ask; with such a purpose built car, perfect in so many ways with a performance level sure to impress... why, oh why, must they put a freakin speed limiter on the thing. I mean c'mon now, a car of this calibur, with a speed limiter? That's just wrong."""
