 A Sleeper of a Giant

"The NSX is a sleeping giant, a car that quietly made history that too few appreciate. Essentially, the NSX has created a niche among performance sports cars heretofore occupied by none others. Granted, it is not a Ferrari or a 911...don't think Honda was shooting for that. One the other hand, the NSX with its mid-engine design & innovative engineering is head & heals away from a 'Vette. In truth, Honda's superior engineering did something none others have rivaled by creating a true world class sports car with first-rate handling & performance, coupled with reliability & street drivability. It's a street race machine par excelance with the reliability engineering upsides of a Honda Civic. Don't be misled; the NSX gets a bum rap for being underpowered. Baloney! Check out this link & see for yourself how it is anything but underpowered: http://members.aol.com/jimmylucky/150.html Few understand just how Honda's Variable Valve Timing & Electronic Lift Control (VTEX) provides a rather flat power band that translates into more efficient hp delivery to the wheels. Horsepower stats alone among conventional design engines are misleading when compared to the NSX. Honda solved the valve timing & lift problem inherent in conventional engine designs that have most other manufactures addressing by the addition of band aid fix blowers. On top of that, for the serious track racer, firms like COMPTECH among others will juice the NSX ride to new heights into the 400hp range. Hondas CEO recently has announced an NSX successor that will be unrivaled in automobile history."

jap cars got power issues. no choice but to keep it at 280ps max. otherwise honda would happily go beyond that with the nsx, wouldn't we all agree? but i read somewhere that dyno tests showed that power was actually higher, dunno by how much though. interesting....and may i add that sales could be higher if it was european or american origin...
Is it really all that gr8?

Looks wise the Car is amazing gauranteed. Its low stance also makes it very agressive looking and i think moreover its trademark were the pop up light and the tail lights as well untill the recent accords came out Anyhow i was examining the engine stats and Ive seen the car inaction Its ridiculously fast but its not all about the engine. The Car is fast because of aerodynamics and its suspension. The engine is decent. I think the japanese engineers Could have gotten the engine alil more power. Its one of the few engines made by japan that producess less that 100HP per liter.. its not lagging to far behind but out of a 3.1 liter engine i was expecting somehting in the range of 300 - 310 BHP alil underpowered for a japanese supercarbut that gets conpensated by its incredibly light weight. If the car was heavier it wouldnt be all that gr8 but the lightweight really makes this car incredible overall good car.
