 The Ultimate Chaparral
Of all Jim Hall's magnificent creations, the Chaparral 2F is perhaps the most complete, combining all of his concern's numerous innovations into one very seamless package. The composite chassis, moveable hub-mounted wing, automatic transmission, all-aluminum big-block Chevy, aero trim mechanism in the nose and hip-mounted radiators were all there in one nicely integrated unit. Unfortunately it was the one feature that Hall didn't design- the transmission- that repeatedly failed in races, costing the team any real chance at success until the last race of the 1967 season at Brands Hatch. Truly a beautiful piece of engineering.
