i didnt like the murcielago when i first saw its pictures until i saw a real one.from that day on it became my favourite sports car .its the only car that looks really aggressive in an elegant manner.here in dubai it costs around 900k dirhams [around half a zonda].the new lights, sleek design & beautiful lines make it a real headturner. overall, its a great car capable of competing with almost any car possible.lamborghini have done a great job building this magnificent car.if only they put the barchetta into production.
 Lamborghini Domination

"When I heard Audi bought Lamborghini,I knew the next bull of Lamborghini will something special! but When I saw the first pictures of murcielago,I was really shocked of its shapes and curves. It has the shape which can't be made by Automobili Lamborghini formaly,This is not what Lambo fans expect from worlds #1 supercar maker to be introduced in 2002 and I said this must be the Audi influence and finally germans killed the madness of Lamborghini marque, I checked the configuration and performance info,WELL IT WAS LAMBO MIRACLE AGAIN,when I saw the 6.2L V12 engine with capability to pump out 580bhp I said to my friend yeah! this is master piece, this is the sign of Lamborghini marque and this will turn this nice car into a raging bull. The engine was almost what I expected from Lamborghini in year 2002, The next week I saw the first movies of murcielago in tv which was broadcasting from italy but without any comparation with another car, just introducing and showing the parts of this master piece, finally the next week I watch the first movies of murcialego in race track with a full story of car from both configuration and performance,Murcielago is the best Lamborghini ever, not only the prettiest but niciest to drive.the engine (As expected from Lamborghini) is the best V12 engine ever made. the Murcielago is better than ANY current ferrari,Porsche and British cars. No other car currently in production compares to murcielago, 1 week passed and I started to recieve info about this car from my friends all over the globe(I'm Persian and I live in Iran). At the same time I read & watch many many articles & movies from almost everywhere! R&T,Mtrend,Machine Magazine(Iranian Mag),Internet,tv..... The Murcielago is much more better than Ferrari 575 Maranello,Pagani Zonda is a bit faster than murcielago because it has less weight (the engine is 7.3L V12 mercedes-benz engine with 550bhp),murcielago has a 580bhp engine but lambo is faster than zonda in corners and also the zonda has price of 2 lamob's! I didn't hear anyone prefer zonda. Murcielago has the best electronical and computer instruments & systems inside.AstonMartin Vanquish has nothing to compare with murci and could not be compared with this raging bull, So this car really rocks! This is a worthy replacement for Diablo. But (in my mind and I think most of lambo fans opinion) Lamborghini is capable to make even much more better than Murcielago in year 2002,Am I right?? I would expect a 100% italian made supercar but with german quality from Automobili Lamborghini this year. Did you see the spy pics of Canto? MyGod. but also the engine of murcielago is the best V12 engine ever made, did you see picture of the engine out of car in Geneva motor show? WOW! ""It seems to be something live"",""you feel the power"",""It is astonishing"",""It sounds nice really nice"", ""It is masterpiece"", drivers of murcielago says! by the way, this is the bull which Automobili Lamborghini introduced in 2002 and it will in production for years(with some modifications ofcourse) and I'm sure it will dominate for years like Lamborghini's other bulls. Many thanks to Audi for the quality and many many thanks to Automobili Lamborghini for this powerplant! It is always my dream to have a black metalic murcielago with tinted windows. about the new Gallardo,I obtain all info of this new all-wheel-drive supercar.the car has a V10 5.0L mid engine with 500 horses and 0-60mph in 4.2 secs.inside: more compact dashboard and quality increased. it is a very sharp car,but the Gallardo is smaller than Murcielago,This bull specially made to kick ferrari 360 modena & spider! it has 100 more horses. and even faster than ferrari V12 pinninfarina barchetta! my friend says. It is so beautiful and prettier than Ferrari 360 but not beautiful and stunning as Murcielago. At the end the expression of murcielago is: MURCIELAGO IS THE KING OF SUPER CARS. And the Gallardo: ""CHALLENGES MODENA"". I L O V E L A M B O R G H I N I, Mehdi R.F. / Iran"

"I have driven my Mucielago for about 2000 kms since March. First service is scheduled for this week. It is Ithaca Verde (similar to the Miura green but slightly pearlescent) with black leather and alcantara hide. Clearly it is different than its competitors because at last, this is a car which makes you feel something when you drive it - unlike the Porsche 996 Turbo, the 575 Maranello or the Aston Martin Vanquish, for example (I cannot say about the Pagani, which could be comparable, in that respect, to the Lambo, but which I have not driven). Take the Ferrari : is so well engineered that you feel nothing in it untill you cruise in excess of 230/250 km/h (a speed at which you expose yourself to jail in my country - France). Which is probably why Maranello owners are so keen on sport exhausts, so that they will hear something below these crazy speeds. I do not see the point of opposing these cars in relation to their respective top speeds, power or torque outputs ; the lowests of these figures are already far beyond the limits of 99% of drivers, including myself. And there is more in a car than this. This Lamborghini has a soul, it looks, feels, sounds (thanks to the permanent vibration of its V12) and reacts like a living thing. It is very easy to drive (steering, clutch, gear shift, brakes, all this is as easy to operate as in a Porsche), the only difficult part being the absence of 3/4 rear view and its width (2,05 m without the door mirrors). I cannot make a list of the reasons to buy it or to declare it superior to any other car. There are probably more ""reasons"" to buy super powered 4 seaters like the Audis RS4/RS6, the Bentley Continental GT, the Porsche Cayenne or any AMG Mercedes Benz. But if you want to get the juiciest and most special fruits of life, and if your teenage dreams still mean something to you, this is the way to go."

Hi Scuderia, I've decided to keep the 550 and have ordered, at the NY auto show today, the Bentley Cont. GT. I also spoke with the Ferrari Greenwich, CT guy and will get on his calendar for the Maranello replacement, whenever that is. I agree with you that's it's probably 2 to 3 years away, but it's surely going to be worth the wait....I hope. Thanks, Bob

"i'm not a total car activist. i don't actively seek out the prototypes or travel the world for car shows... but i'm a lamborghini fan to the end of my days. ferrari, nice but a bit popular and ""comfy""; porche, far too popular for my tastes, and nowhere near as demonic as it's supercar brethren... i could go on, but i want to devote time to my true love. i wasn't always a fan of lamborghini, just because i get hung up on aesthetics. in fact, through the 80's i thought lamborghinis a bit TOO jagged, and being a girl means i like my smoothness (case in point, i'd do things to a shighera that i wouldn't normally bestow upon the public eye). the countach is nice, granted, a revolutionary car, but it brought to mind the vector monstrosity that had burned my eyes out before. when the first diablos hit the lines, i became more interested in bulls because the styling dramatically improved (what was WITH the 80's anyways?!). but when i was poking around and opened up Automobili Lamborghini on the web one day and got the murcielago staring back at me, i just about screamed. here was an ::extremely:: sexy car, with the combination of lines and curves that make supermodels green with jealousy. it was neither a doorstop nor a bubble, and the fire in it's belly was no fake. but as beautiful as the car is, it still is no pansy. poshed up porshes and flaming ferraris aside, a lamborghini is pure demon, and would never even try to sheath it's claws. someone on this thread stated that the ferrari has soul... take your soulful 550 and 575 and such, cause i'd rather have mine stolen by the sexpot murcielago that just drove by. and as for the spasticness of the car in relation to it's brothers: sexy. i personally, as well as many others i know, are drawn to the idea of controlled chaos. while there are more chaotic vehicles than the murcielago, again the idea was ::controlled:: mayhem. like dry red wine, the car opens you up a good deal rougher than most other ""luxury"" supercars, without being outright bawdy. as we speak now, i'm recovering from shock of lamborghini's newest demon, the gallardo. i saw and saw and saw again this picturesque vision, yet could not believe what my eyes percieved. speaking strictly on eye appeal, the gallardo makes the murcielago look like the ho-hum girl next door, and the diablo like an anorexic heroine addict... needless to say, i'll be watching lamborghini a whole lot, as their creations continue to tighten around my heart and hold my complete attention."

"Firstly, the Lamborghini Murcielago is meant to be a direct competitor to the Ferrari 575 Maranello, Aston Martin Vanquish and Pargani Zonda C12 as well as a few others. Never mind the performance difference... they are produced to fight one another. I can only say that according to real sprint test and around a racing circuit, the Lambo is slower than a Pagani Zonda C12 on all counts (by a lot), slightly faster than a Ferrari 575 Maranello and a lot faster than the Aston Martin Vanquish. Why the Enzo is not a direct competitor. Firstly, the Enzo is a road car with race car genes (look at all the F1 car-inspired gadgets) and is also the most technically-advanced supercar money can buy; it's also priced differently. What the Ferrari 575 Maranello, Aston Martin Vanquish, Pagani Zonda C12 and Lamborghini Murcielago does is being a good grand tourer... something the Enzo is not (it's more for the race track)... which is why u notice they have very good refinement."

"the 550 and lambo and two very different cars. they were built for different purposes, and they are in different classes. the 550 is more of a tourer sports car as the lambo is more of a supercar. people will talk to you about performance and stats and ""oh the lambo is a few tenths faster to 60"", but will you really notice? will you ever be unsatisfied with the 550's top speed of 199 mph compared to the lambo's top end of 205?! so, performance wise the cars are very similar, but lambo does have more of a track car feel, and it has a little more of the SUPERcar essence than the 550 does; but the ferrari has something that the lambo does not. the 550 has a soul, it has heritage, it is making history. the new lambo is more of a trendy car, the 550 has more class and eligance. personally, after driving the murcielago i felt somewhat empty. unless you really love the lambo, or have always wanted one, i would stay with the 550. thats just my opinion and being a huge ferrari enthusiast, it is probably a biased one. anyway, the 575 will soon be replaced by ferrari's new flag ship. (no clue on what this car will be like, but im sure its on pinnifarina's drawing board). you can wait a few years for this car, or if you feel the need for a supercar and still want a ferrari, try a F50. that is ferrari's supercar. or maybe the 575? i have driven a 575 and perfomance wise, with the upgraded suspension, the 575 does feel much quicker and lighter than the 550. to sum it up, performance does not separate these cars, it comes down to how you feel in each one, and how much you like each one. drive a new lambo and see how you feel in it, then drive your 550. its all a matter of opinion and personal taste. i would take a 355 over a murcielago anyday; that's becuase i love ferraris and the excitement that they give me."

"I have a 2000 Ferrari 550 which is a great car. I'm thinking about getting a Murcielago to replace it, but have never considered the Lamborghini quality to be at the same level as Ferrari. I've looked at, and sat in, the Murcielago and like it very much and it's a much more exciting car than the 550. The dealer has 3 of them and the Titanium with Black is a beauty, it's only a matter of being convinced it's a good move to make. The 550 is the best car I've ever driven, so it's a challenge to find a strong replacement. Anyone here have an opinion based on ""real"" knowledge of the Lambo, as compared to the 550? Thanks very much, Bob"

Okay, Motorhead, b4 u start running YOUR mouth about how clever YOU are....but better get your so called 'FACTS' right. Firstly the Murcielago has the exact samw accelration time of the Enzo. EXACT SAME! And u claim that the murcielago is not even fit to challenge the enzo. Bloody hell! y not??? How is the lambo a totally different car? Juz because it has 4-wheel drive??? U have absolutely no right to say that the car is no fun to drive as U HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT!!!. And also for ur information there's something called traction-control. You can easily switch it off. You also say that the Murcielago cannot be called or supercar or that lamborghini claims that the murcielago a 'supercar'. Again i ask u Mr. Smart All- FACTS boy. Don't u know that any car above 500bhp is called a SUPERCAR??? And the lambo has 580hp! And i think that this car is VALUE FOR MONEY!!! it is ONLY US$163000!!! If u compare this car to the equal performance Enzo which costs US$440000 and the slower Carrera GT which costs around US$400000...I WOULD TAKE THE MURCIELAGO!!!! And everybody cares about saftey in a supercar as ppl in a supercar will be the ppl most likely to CRASH AND DIE!!! And just for your information....there is no 'Tractor Influence' on the murcielago. And i also agree that the Bugatti eb 16/4 Veryon is a crap car which any car company can make. They just make a huge car with a huge capcity and a big engine (w-16 MY GOD!!!) and i also agree that the interior looks like crap and the entire car also looks like crap. I would rather the Mclaren keep it's position as the fastest production car. So, Motorhead...go get YOUR facts RIGHT before u START runnung YOUR MOUTH!!!

Countach, Diablo, Murcielago-Three names that everyone who is interested by cars know something about them.I know that this 3 words are the italian code name of three of the most expensive cars in the world. Not only expensive-Three of the most FASTEST cars...330kph...580bhp...IT SOUNDS VERY GOOD FOR ME.I don't know your view for this car...I don't want to hear it, bec. this car(YES, ONLY THIS)is one of my favourite exotic cars and with four words: This car is the GOSH OF THE CARS.

So you think you know everything eh, wow thats a surprise because whatever you just said were opinions and whatever i wrote were plain facts. You went around putting brackets all over your comment like its a art contest or something. It has almost the same acceleration time as the enzo but its not the same so its still slower actually much slower by around 0.4 seconds and thats slow by car standard you if you don't know but you should because youre smart right, ok the next thing. The lambo is not even fit to challenge the enzo. It is a totally different car. Four wheel drive on a lambo, where the hell did all the fun go. Youre gona pay about US$170000 for a supercar(thats what lambo calls it)with no fun. Who the bloody hell cares about safety in a supercar man. The murcielago could have accelerated much faster if those four wheel drive were takes off or is that tractor influence(they use to built tractors, you should know that write, smart boy)and yes before you go calling me stupid, they could have attined 2000Hp in the veyron very easily but you have no bloody idea what the hell realibility is, oh yeah you know youre extreamly smart. If you people want to run all your mouths, do it properly, thanks!!

Well looking at it from far, it looks more like the successor to the devil than the Diablo,Cant beat the Diablo can it? Well That will take some time. Good interiors unlike the brash countach, sexy airdam, and scissor doors.(wonder why they didnt like rear spoilers for this baby? But the murcielago will make a handsome competitor for the rival carmakers like ferrari.

26-2-2003
I consider myself among the fortunate not just to examine and gawk at a (Murcielago) but also sit in one and be taken for a test drive. Last August, I visited the annual Concours Italiano at the prestigious Quail Lodge in Carmel California. There were quite a few exotic car categories that would make any exotic car nut a real happy camper. Anyways, there were three Lambo Murcielago's consisting of black, Muira green, orion(?) yellow and orange. The rear styling is to me, a love-it-or-hate-it scenario. If one is paying $300,000 for an exotic car, it better damn well represent, sexyness, power, and pure asthetics (Diablo for example). Murcielago looks somewhat of a jellybean with it's round and angular rear styling (alot of Diablo owners I talked to do not approve the the Murcielago's appearance). As for me, I was lucky enough to sit in one. For sure, the interior ergonomics is much simple and cleaner than the Diablo's layout. The 6-speed manual is definitly a welcomed addition. The exterior air intake vents have a switch on the center console that enables the vents to raise for 15 seconds while the car is stationary. That was way cool!!! When I entered the car and closed the sissor doors I instantly felt like a real SPECIAL person. Then the fun part. Before the car was loaded onto a flat-bed, the salesman asked me if I wanted to go for a quick spin in the car. I couldn't believe what I just heard. Instantly recognizing the extreme importance of this question, I immediately complied with a fat cheezy grin and off we went. The engine sound is not that harsh, very subdued and very smooth. The take-off was incredible. Instantly, I was treated to Rock-Star like status. Little kids pointed fingers at the us in awe, Hot chicks kept asking me if it was my car (Yeah Right!!!), I couldn't asked for a better time.

please... its a matter of oppinion! Design wise, some people like curves, others like lines and sharp angles (not boxed 80's style no) i like a mix, like the Diablo The Mclaren f1 and the Enzo has a mix but i dont like its design so much...see thats my opinion. I dont think this car is perfect, infact i would say the back is to curved and rounded. As for performance... AWD is for control, its a big car. The speed is 330+ it could probably do more... It has better technology than the diablo, and the interior?! whats wrong with it!!? its far more styled than say, jag xj220 or Mclaren F1 and up there side by side with ferraris. It has a 0-60 time as fast as the Enzo, ... is that not impressive? especially for a heavier car with less BHP... Also price comes into play, its half as much as the original price of the Enzo, and i like how lamborghini sell their cars over decades so it gives people a better chance of buying one new. Now the veyron, MANY people say its crap.. i agree... the design is all curves, I (yes opinion) can't stand the design...and the 'technology' wow they put a quad turbo on a 16 cylinder engine!!!... why not get 2000 BHP, they could...why not... because its stupid! The interior is ugly! far uglier than the Murcielago, the exterior is fat just like the back of the murcielago but all over... the car is just poor... and i only wish a more sensible car would take the throne as the performer of all cars... If i saw someone driving it i would throw up on their car... (just my opinion) see... people have different views... you seem to like curves... i dont see all curves as modern i see them as a 60's vision of the future.

about a month ago, on a cold frosty mornin, i left my house and made my way towards the bus stop....jus another winters day.....but then above the crackle of the usual mornin traffic i heard a sound which stood out from the rest..i turned around to see what was capable of producing that amazing sound,.....and low and behold it was the murcielago!!!,i stood there jaw wide open!!...it slowly made its away across the round-about and was headin towards me !!....i waited for it to pass me, it slowley glided by, if i stuck my arm out i would hav touched it!,i must confess i wasnt impressed when i saw it in the magazines,it looked too cold and clinical, but in real life its much better then in the pictures, its sharp crisp lines and edges looked neat and although it wasnt as agressive as the diablo it was jus as dramatic.....it was a magical few seconds,it was jus so surreal, and it really made my day.....my mates didnt beleive me when i told them i saw it, !!.......i missed my bus but it was worth it!

This is the funniest car i have ever seen, it is just a big joke! The car is basically not that good in its performance. It has a miserable top speed of 330km/h, just 2km/h faster than the diablo. The V12 in this lambo is not that powerful either. Yes i know top speed is not everything but it is just so slow compared to its rivals. The handling may be good but what is the point of 4 wheel drive in a lamborghini? interior is so plain except for the good quality material because of Audi not them. This car is so good because of audi and VW not because of themselves. Audi and VW thought them how to do things right. Lamborghini would have gone down the drain if not for VW. Look at all its rivals. All of them look so much better and perform more brilliantly than this. I know bugatti would have gone down the drain if not VW too but bugatti made an impact by creating the fastest production car known to man and a car with more than 1000Hp, my beloved Veyron. What i am trying to say is that a new lambo is created every ten years or so but they do not make any impact on the car industry at all. maybe the gallardo will!!

When I saw the new Lamborghini for the first time, I got shocked of its beauty, performance and attractive price for THAT kind of car - perfectly leather-fit upholestry, just a GOOD BIG PIECE of 'work of art' - as a conclusion I have to say that car is the best among those I have ever seen. It`s true that Diablo had more aggressive look, but in my opinion it was too sharp-edged, unlike the new-born Murcielago.......simply I love it :)

"i keep changing my mind on how much i like this car. The front excelent,The diablo front really was standard and it looked very 1990, im surprised how little they changed it over the year, only scrapping the popup headlights and slightly rounding it and changing the intakes for the front brakes and a modified front spoiler for the diablo 6.0. The Sides of this car.. nice but lacking, i like the way they did the intake for the rear brakes...it really is large because of how it sticks out. but the shape and window shape are very straight, the diablo had the famous bend, and this went with the front of the car, also on every diablo besides the SV roadster, GT, GTR the rear brake air intake sloped from bottom to top backwards....so it kind of created a V shape with the top engine intake sloping forwards in the opposite direction... The Murcielago took the forward sloping intake... and i kinda think it takes symmetry away from the design.... the back ; what can i say... i dont like the black slates on the window.. i don't like the amount of roundness for the back.... I like 'old style' backs where the aero dynamics cut off. Just like the Diablo...Why should it curve around? doesnt affect the aero dynamics and doesnt look half as good, and ive always seen it as an audi type design.so i just hope that they wernt the ones who insisted the back shape... The L140 seems to be a bit more outgoing at the back. Sure from what ive seen its covered up, but the car does seem to have a nicer back than this.... it has more 'diablo in it'... and the design seems more out going than the murcielago. Why should a less powerfull cheaper 'small version' of the larger car look more outgoing??? I just hope they make future versions of the Murcielago with a bit of restyling, im hoping only towards the back."""

Whilst i have read peoples opinions about this car saying its over prices, uglier than the diablo, too slow, i can safely assume you havent been overtaken by one on the motorway at 140mph.! last night i was driving home, and out from nowhere i saw it in my mirror, the snout, which looks ugly in pics looked now so modern, spectacular, then it flew past, the driver must of slotted it into third, because it then accelerated away, i was travelling at 100, within 3 seconds it was gone, but i could still hear that noise from a distance. this car has only 2 purposes to pose, and to exhilerate and if you have the opportunity to even see one, your day is a good one. within 30 minutes, a second car, a black ferrari 550 maranello- it had the same effect on me like a mazda, conventional styling, no engine note, and no pasache.. thank you lamborghini and audi for making your car special. cant wait for a Gallardo to overtake me in my crap mini

Back in late May of 2002 I saw the first one of these in Plaistow, NH on rt.125. Still haven't seen one since. I almost $#it a twinkie! Wow! It was like a stealth bomber had flown by my car. The styling is SO much more breathtaking in the flesh than in a photo in Motor Trend or Road & Track. The one I saw was that pewter color Chevrolet uses so much right now on their trucks. It would've looked even better in yellow or black. Amazing machine!

"i would buy this car just to open and close the butterfly wing air intakes!! Any car with an physical visual and performance adjustment which you can activate while driving is just plain brilliant! And what an idea...The car witht the intakes closed looks quite conservative really, besides the huge side intake which looks like it belongs on an F22 jet. The performance is nice, really not to impressive seeing its basically a diablo in performance, but with 6 gears, all wheel drive from the diablo vt 6.0 and all the other enhancements to make it better to drive and live make this car worth the money!! sure its not as fast as other cars coming out or recently released, but who on the street need that power? and for anyone who knows the enzo's price.... O_O id perfer a Mclaren F1 anyday!this car is worth every cent, still maybe a bit overpriced but in comparison its cheap as chips ;p"""

Seeing as how the video game version of this car is probably gonna be the closest I ever get to it, lemme just tell you: Wow! In NFS: Hot Pursuit2, you can hit upwards of 120mph in this car and that's in second gear! PS You can see in the picture of the interior that there's no leather shift boot on this thing...Come one guys, we need a shift boot! Please?

I think people are judging the Lamborghini Murcielago way to harshly. Certainly the performance figures are not as impressive as we would expect from Lamborghini but neither was the Diablo when it first came out. Try to give Lamborghini time to make several multiple versions just like they done with the Diablo. Hopefully they will put more power to it - (Lamboghini, V12, 205 mph?) come on. Modify the suspension, give it more horsepower, & hopefully the Murcielago will be better. If there isn't a more high-performance version by this time next year then you can complain.

"Waste of money. Ugly. Stupid. What more could you ask for? I would buy this if I had a life and 300,000$ in my pocket. Who wouldn't? Although not as spiffy as the diablo it is cute. A real love mobile. man chicks would be asking to go in it and - take a knife on you and then throw you out the window. Then they would put it in reverse and - ask if you were hurt. They would pick you up and drive you to the - morgue. The morgue guy would take out a disembowling knife and - cut you some flowers. He would give them to you and then - charge you twenty dollars. You wouldn't be able to pay him back so he'd take his knife and - kill himself. You would run from the scene just as the chick peeled out in your Murcielago. You would jump in the car and wrap your hands around her - face. You would say guess who and she would - hit a stop sign at 205 mph. the stop sign flies through the windshield and impales her. She screams in - love and happiness and say ""I love you soooooo much and you would say - ""I hate you"" and throw her out the window over a cliff. She would plummet to the earth and hit with a satisfying - ""BOING"" and bounce right back up to you. She would land on top of your car - but bounce into a freeway. Oncoming traffic would make short work of her body. You were killed a minute later when you crashed into a gasoline truck and turned the countryside into ash. The End Morale: buy a Murcielago. You'd get a chic"""

The S7 is faster than the Murcilago on a race track and on a drag strip. But the Murcilago is a much beter car, considering how much more practical and cheaper it is. But then I ask, do the people who buy these cars really car about convinience and saving money?

"ok, here's some information for you. This will probably do 205, that's true. But your facts on the S7 are incorrect. The S7 is much quicker to 60 and 100, and it's beleived that a top speed of aproximately 240mph is obtainable with the proper gearing (which can be requested when you place your order). The S7's stat's on this page (and several others) are wrong. Saleen's smallblock 427 is pulling around 570-575 horses, not 550; early estemates were VERY low. I don't know where you obtained your info, but they need to go back and update their facts. I'm pretty sure of this because I have followed the Saleen entensly ever since they released concept/prototype photo's. Try reading the articles in Motortrend and Road & Track."""

How does this car go so fast? I've read in different places that this car is capable of 205-230mph. This car is so heavy(compared with other super cars)how can it go so fast? A Saleen S7 weighs 800lbs lighter than this, and only 30hp down, and still cant beat a Murcielago's top speed and acceleration! How does lamborghini do it?

this car looks much much better when seen for real rather than pics. at first i thought the diable looked more dramatic , but after being overtaken by the black monster in london recently, i can tell you, this car really is simply stunning. The rear lights look really spectacular, the twin exhaust rumbling, its fast as f*** . i WANT ONE

It seems to me that the Murcielago is both a beautifully exotic supersporty car and amongst the fastest road cars ever built. The exterior looks so nice and represents both strength and elegancy. The Enzo looks a bit strange to me and not that normal. The Mclaren is way too costly and looks quite small although the front is very beautiful. I like to see the next edition of a Lambo that can compete equally with the rank of the Enzo, Edonis, or Mclaren.

Like wow, I'm an expat living in Dubai. One fine day around 2 weeks ago me and wife decided to go to for a trip to the next state which is almost 2 hours away. Weather was perfect 27 degrees c nice blue sky. My wife was on the back seat relaxed reading local newspaper as she preferes to stay at the back coz she can stretch and even sleep ( btw I have a chrysler concorde limited nothing special just a car). I was cruising at around 220 kmph and the roads where almost deserted especially on a friday. I looked in the rear view mirror and the distace all I could see was a yellow image nothing more nothing less. I could not figure out what was coming up to me so fast. I looked again and this image was quite recognisable now and the driver was quite pissed off at me coz i was in the fast lane. Well seemed i wasnt fast enough and there it was he did not give me time to get in the slower lane the car zoomed past me from the inside and shit it really dragged me for a couple of feet to the right (this is were i got goose pimples al over). That guys was a murcielago cant really tell what was the speed he was ermmmm cruising but damn it scared the hell out of me. (ah wife was asleep hahahahah)P.s saw the car at the next gas station stop, never got to see the inside or who was driving it it had tinted windows all over.

When I first saw the Murcielago in Lambos vid. I was shocked, I couldn't beleive the change they had made. At first I wasn't crazy about it it seemed too smooth unlike the Diablo wich screems I am one bad @#* car but after a while it really grew on me, it is a work of art. It is amusing listening to some of the comments on here, some people have no clue (I am glad I never baught a play station) comparing cars that most can't even aquire due to not in production anymore, limited production or just plain too expensive. And all this crap about top speed, who cares there will always be faster cars but to have an all around package that works is key and I think Lambo did a great job, they had the balls to redesighn there car into a master peice that is how we get new models, if they never did that they would never come out with the Diablo countache or any previous models. And complaints about interior and black mirrors-GET OVER IT!!!! Incase you didn't notice the car has black parts all around it they call this styling if you want all painted go buy a Miata and the interior! I think it is perfect, it screems super car that is what they are meant to be. These same people are probably disapointed that they will probably find no baby seat harnesses either!! I have not seen an actual one yet but from pictures and comments I think I will love it! I thaught I liked Diablos til I saw one then I really liked them, like others have said if the keys were dropped into your hands you would be tickled pink eccept you play station addicts probably can't drive a standard and if you do crash and burn no you cannot press replay! Sorry for the wake up call but that's reality.

Calm down people......... Some love it, some hate it, all have an opinion, and all care enough to make it known. A supercar is designed to grab peoples attention (even if it is only the owners). To get a response requires people to care enough to bother. Whether you lot like it or not LamboAudi has got you talking about it - so they have done a good job at that at least. Respect each other for the car lurving nuts you are - and STOP DISRESPECTING each other. By the way - if you wanna see a few of these babies go and see off shore powerboating - the lucky buggers that run these teams are driving at least 5 of these to every venue (lambo supply engines to a few teams). Powerboating is a bit of a laugh to...

I couldn't describe better myself. I completely agree with Outlaw and anyone who can appreciate the few of Art that left in the sporstcar business. Altough I'm a big Countach fan myself, I say that the Murcielago is the closest Lambo to perfection yet. This is a car, not something for kids and Hollywood. It doesn't need any add-ons or wings or anything else for that matter that can only make it look like a cheap sportscar (I don't want to say names). And the Raptor wouldn't be bad either...the Canto however...well thank God Piech stopped that project. About those drugs in Singapore...no comment on that whatsoever...

Frankly said I don't know why R U guys arguing about the Murcielago. It's matter of taste. Some have, some don't... Besides, this car is happened to be one of the most elegantly styled cars in this whole wide world. It's not (only) about performance. Ask any designer...asthetics is impacable, background about the same...so simple yet so perfect. If it was designed any wilder it wouldn't be the essance of what we call Lamborghini. But then again like I said it's about good taste...

Aston martin is still the best in doing these type of things. if you compare the interior of the murcielago compared to the vanquish, it would be like comparing the Burj AL Arab(7 star hotel) to a pigs sty. I am not the only person that hates the murcielago for your information. The lamborghini is winning in every shootout because the lamborghini is facing one of the easiest shootouts so far. Lets bring back the EB110, F50, and the XJ220 and lets see if it is going to have a hard time or not!

I happen to be in the same school as Motorhead and he is talking crap about the murcielago...he compares the cars with other cars that came out 10 yrs ago and says that the murcielago top speed is like crap. Well he happens to be talking crap as many other new supercars have top speed's lower than the murcielago. The Murcielago's Design is superb..Gallardo did a fine job...the interior may be plain but so WHAT??? Everything else about the Lamborghini is Superb!!!The handling of the car is superb...it also more efficent than other cars...cars with top speed's higher than the murcielago do not handle as well(most cars)...At the wheel of the Lamborghini Murcilago, the driver is in complete control. The clear, accurate instruments and their respective controls are all grouped together on a single electronically-controlled panel, which has undergone numerous aesthetic and ergonomic improvements. This panel is directly interfaced through a CAN bus to a Lamborghini GFA control unit (body computer). The interior features leather upholstery, 3-spoke sports steering wheel (also in leather) and a steel gear lever and selector gate: another refinement that is a long-established Lamborghini tradition. Numerous storage compartments are provided, and the radio and CD autochanger are tailor-made to Lamborghini's specifications this also proves how good the car is...the murcielago is also better than other cars as The Murcilago chassis has been stiffened considerably compared to the Diablos. The chassis consists of a frame made of high-strength steel tube, with structural elements in carbon fibre/honeycomb. The carbon fibre elements are attached to the steel frame using a combination of adhesives and steel rivets. This proves that the Lambo is a better car in every way...And also motorhead is the only person who does not like the murcielago..Car magazine journalists love it...the lambo wins almost every shootout...Lamborghini Derserves respect..and respect is what u will have for that car!!!!

"Based on what do you call Lamborghini's logic stupid? The Lamborghini is, in every term, a better car than the Diablo. It is much more evolved and much more efficient, being faster around a race track and on a drag strip. It is, at the same time, more comfortable and the interior is much more friendly to the driver. The top speed, 205 mph, is a speed that can be acheived in very few situations, and shouldn't really be considered. The fact that older cars acheive higher speeds is absolutely irrelevant, it is much more important to have a car that handles better at high speeds than to have a car that fly as a rocket but doesn't handle at all, which was the problem with ""old"" Diablos and some other ""old"" cars. Another thing that should be mentioned is that the buyer of a Murcilago has more than one option to the colour of the interior, it is possible to buy a Murcilago and have an interior that isn't entirely black. At last, Lamborghini is a great car company, and being under the management of VWAG will surely elevate it to its deserved status."""

Having now seen four Murcielagos in the flesh, silver mauve yellow and prototype green, the cars do look more impressive than any photograph can suggest. Many congratulations to the audi designer for incorporating many Lamborghini design traits in one car. As impressive to look at as a Diablo, no or a Countach, never. Like most cars these days middle age has arrived. Least impressive though and probably due to Swiss noise regulations is the sound of the Murcielago. Deeply dissapointing. The Diablo was a car that was heard as much as seen. The Murcielago, one could drive past behind you and you would never have known it was there. Is there really a six litre V12 in there?

When I saw the first spy pics of the Canto I nearly peed my pants! If ever there was a worthy replacement for the Diablo it was this car.BRUTAL.As if it could launch into space if need be. Then some dimwit canned the Canto and out comes Murcielago. Who cares about smoother handling, better safety etc, etc??!! The trademark of a Lambo is the fact that it looks as if its doing 100mph even when its parked. That is what makes it different from all other supercars. Sex on wheels. The Murcielago? Only a little bit more exciting than my grandmothers 1984 Toyota. What a total dissapointment, and what an insult to the original Murcielago...

First off, the Pagani rocks man. People who buy a super car are looking for extravagence. Second, it's not the last super car for under 500g's. Your forgeting the all new, all american, Saleen S7. It has a better power to weight ratio than this or any of the car's that you listed. It's also got more agressive styling and a race program to back it. It's as as close as you can get to a street legal LeMans car (the Enzo is more like an F1).

this car, true, is more usuable than the old diablo. It has more driver aids, although these can be switched off. It isnt as aggressive as a diablo, however, it is a beautiful car, wide, low and beautifully proportioned. It may not look as mean as a diablo, but drive one of these through town, and everyone will look. Audi, has made this car softer, but its faster than the diablo! WHen the equilvalent 575 maranello looks like a toyota supra, the pagani - no image or culture, the vanquish- not much pace or quality, and porsches too common, the murcielago is the last bona-fide supercar you can buy for less than $500,000
 Lamborghini Evolution
lysator

We witness the Evolution of Lamborghini as a maker. First they produced true sportscars like the Miura and the Countach. Then they built the Diablo which is more like a REALLY quick GT. Now they evolved even more with the Murcielago. It has even more luxury, Viscous Traction System, ABS, and all sorts of driver's aids. It's not that they can't make a really lightweight and powerful sportscar like the Countach. They choose to sell a different kind of car. A true GT. So don't say that it's not like the Diablo and that crap. It's just a different car.

This is like the best ever lamborghini produced...but frankly i feel that the intrerior of the car is quite plain....the revised version is much better and they should add an extra gear to the car to make in more fun to drive. From singapore only 5 people have the car here which is quite irritating as stupid singapore has that damn coe. the costs around 1 million here....

When you say it doesn't blow you away, wait till you see one. Next to any ordinary car you will just be astonished. The car breaths pure evilness yet charm and for the first time a street legal Lamborghini is under 8 minutes at the ring. Audi has done some impressive stuff to Lamborghini.

Lambo purists may be disappointed style wise specially what one has come to expect from the marquee. The problem with the Murcielago is it's predecessor... sorry fans but the styling just does not blow me away vis-a-vis Countach, Diablo and even the legendary Miura.

As almost every single car that has been produced until today, the Murcilago has some flaws and it is possible to make it a better car. But one must have in mind that this isn't any common production car. I'm sure Lamborghini will do to the Murcilago the same they did with the Diablo, which was to slowly release new upgraded and improved versions. I mean, try to compare the Diablo 2WD to the SE30 and then to the GT.

"Believe me, I love this car, but it could've been a lot better. You know the early prototypes, designed by Zagato, the ones that became known as the Lamborghini ""Canto""? That was the original design for this car. Then Volkswagen boss whatever-his-name-is went on and did this! I mean, the Countach was revolutionary in its design. So was the Diablo. This, well, isn't. It just looks like a Diablo that went through some parallelogram treatment with the silhouette of a soap bar. Oh well. Maybe Lamborghini will make it up to me with the upcoming Anniversary Lamborghini, codenamed the L140..."""

I agree with the all of your comments about the performance (and i don't like the fact that audi had more to do with it than just money) and stuff but i absolutely hate the styling. i think if it was an addition to the diablo then it would have been easier to swallow, but to REPLACE IT with this... It's like trading Angelina Jolie (wild and curvacious) for a female body builder with more muscles than she needs. If you don't believe me then just look at the pics on this website and see for yourself.

The Murcilago has it all. It is fast, beautiful, rare, it is a true exotic. Not to mention that its engine has got to be on of the best V12s ever. I love this car, no other car currently in production compares to the Murcilago, IMO.
