No Grip! |

The Jaguar R3 was a disaster, with the Jaguar wind tunnel in Calafornia and the team's base of operations in the UK, the car could not be developed quickly enough yet alone designed properly in the first place. The main problem was downforce, the car had the least downforce on the grid and this was highlighted when at some races the Jaguars with their works engines struggled to fend off little privateers Minardi with a much less powerful Asiatech engine and new boys Toyota. Jaguar was lucky to score points in the season opener as most of the field was taken out at the first corner. The R3 however showed what could of been at Monza when Eddie Irvine Finished 3rd behind the two Ferraris, mainly because at Monza you don't need a lot of downforce and therefore the R3's disadvantage was cancelled out, at least this showed the cosworth engine was still on the pace unlike the car. |
