Well Bentley haven't done badly with the Arnage Convertible (sp?). Some people like wind in their hair ... it's a great car and I think people will actually lap it up, even if it's not your typical car for taking the top off of.

Why wouldn't they make the CL into a convertible? Seeing as it's essentially a coupe version of the S class, it'd make so much more sense. And I can't imagine that thing having very good body rigidity
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

Isn't the SL meant to cover this area of the market?

You're two seats short. Actually, the CL is supposed to do that, a four seater with cabriolet roof.

What next? A convertible E500 Estate?

ADDED: Or is that E550 these days?

Look closer and you'll see the illustrated convertible has four doors. So essentially it's a decapitated S-class sedan, and not from the CL two-door

Mercedes hasn't offered that bodystyle in a long time - IIRC their last drop-top sedan was the big 600 Laundelet (spl?)

The attached Bob Jane Landaulet in the 2nd link is a local car, now owned by Lindsay Fox. When near new it was on the cover & mini-tested by Modern Motor magazine. Check the quality of the interior woodwork on these cars, its just spectacular!
