I was wondering if anyone has seen a 1967 Chaparral 2J race car in action. Iv'e always liked the design and the 690 hp Chevy engine. If anyone has seen one perform or knows of anyone with a Chaparral how sweet is it?

    Viper versus Ferrari

American muscle versus European finesse and handling (perhaps?)

oh dear at last it was built well enough to "allow him to walk away"

    LOL!
To be fair, he got it badly wrong ... the Ferrari wasn't close enough to force an error like that - he just screwed up!

How do you come to that conclusion ?
If you're in the lead it is ALWAYS tempting to try to kee pthat lead distance and increase it.
Happens at trackdays ALL the TIME. People get out of shaee trying to stay ahead of a faster car Very common mistake as it's easy to forget the conertina effect.

You can't really say anything about it either way !!!!

I think he guessed wrong the line of sight vanishing point because of the cliff edge on the left side of the road. Now he was going too quick to take the turn without crossing into oncoming lane. Brakes too hard, looses steering control, and once he touches the slippery shoulder surface, sayonara!!

Very bad technique for canyon driving. He should have come in extremely wide giving better view of corner and then, atleast would have had the entire right lane to manuever in. If this isn't the case then the Viper plain sucks, handling-communication wise.

You might be spot on P-A.
In the UK the Viper's problem was being able to position it in the road for the best cornering. Long bonnet Maybe this guy had same problem - or maybe as said just watching his mirrors and trying to hard to stop the Ferrari closing

unless you own a mclaren F1 and live in America with your mclaren F1 or a veyron for that matter in the U.S. then you have nothing to worry about from a European driver with a Enzo
