rotten egg smell in new 2004 toyota cienna

Every time I break hard or excellerate and than break, I get this rotten egg smell in my minivan. I told the machanics at toyota and they said it was the chemicals in the type of gas I was putting in the car. I use reg. because thats what the owners manual says is best. The machanic told me to use premium. I just bought the car last april. Is that a defect in the car? Do I have to live with this smell? Or do I have no alternitive and use premium gas instead.

the rotten egg smell is caused by the S0(30r 4) gas. This is probably in fuel that is not refined proparly, but i guess in the us fuel is of a much lower standard...I have no idea of the origin of the gas escaping, but that it comes from the fuel seems the only possible source of the gas...

ya lol, that happens to my parents' van and suv when my brother drives. (sulfur)
My thery was that the something was over heating, but cheap gas makes sence too.

Mmm, it's be the cheap crappy fuels you guys have there. Doesn't make a whole lotta sense really, the US has some of the toughest emmisions laws (or so I hear) and some of the crappiest fuels. Better fuels would probably go a long way to helping the emmisions, as well as encouraging the auto makers to get more power out of their engines there.

Is that a brand new car you bought? It also may be the new brakes or exhaust being "broken in" instead of the gas.

Either your car's catalyst has failed, is cracked, split OR been run on leaded petrol.
Unfortunately, replacement cats can be expensive !!

OR a bad cell in your batter is out-gassing H2OS

Put your location in your profile and folks can actually advize you better - even more importantly we can avodu the garage who gave you that advice - fuel yeah right
