    Hydrogen BMW

I was reading on the internet earlier this month and read over something about BMW putting a hydrogen car onto the market. I am aware of the concept they tested. But i'm wondering if they are going to produce is.

Apparently the Hydro 7-series is going into production.

yeah, i heard GM is going to start producing hydrogen powerplants for their cars here in the next few years, the only problem is, the only public hydrogen pump in the country is in southern california. they said that a new one will be opening in southern NY, just below the city

I don't think hydrogen will be the future. In fact, I believe oil is a renewable resource.

How is it renewable? You combust it, and break it down into different molcules then it started out as.

If they make something to replace the nice sounds out of combustion engines, and for muscle car type things a "rumbler", then I do not care that they switch. I am happy as long as I have those ncie sounds and rumbling of the engine shaking.

Can't agree anymore. The Noise a car makes is one of the most important factors of a car IMO.

This is pretty much what I mean. That if it does run out, it will eventually come back over time, or it it won't run out because it's reproducing faster than we use it.

    Care to explain your theory?

I think it is evident that another source of energy is going to arise in the next few decades, hydrogen, electricity, etc.

    I agree to an extent.

Hydrogen is definately not the future.

You can't actually get hydrogen without using energy - which currently requires the burning of fossil fuels, which, incidentally, are not renewable. It just moves the problem of pollution rather than eliminating it.

Then you have the problem of storage. The BMW Hydrogen 7er's boot is more-or-less filled with a big pressurised tank of hydrogen.

Hydrogen burns with a squeaky pop, and 'pressurised tanks in cars that might crash' isn't going to feature in the "Top 10 best ideas ever" list. Lets face it even the Top 100 looks a bit ambitious.

Untill someone finds a way of creating hydrogen without causing pollution, and a way of storing it safely and compactly while they are taking a break from green energy research, hydrogen isn't going to be hugely popular.
    Thanks for all the fish
