Complete lack of surprise as the new XK looks exactly the same as the XK shaped ALC.
Thanks for all the fish
But still .. mega drool. Thats far better than i even dreamed it to look like.
I really like it
I think Koenigsegg is Swedish for: "Oh no, my head's just exploded!"
Jeremy Clarkson
that looks well nice!!! especially from the back! good job
front looks like a mitsubishi eclipse..BORING!
It brings back memories of a certain aston martin...
Ugh...what an uninspired design. It's like they went backwards from the current XK. I wounder how many parts it shares with the Taurus.
1977 Mercedes-benz 240D 4-speed with 500k miles
I'm sure there were some better designs made for the new one...

That's a big NO NO from me.. not good at alll, those headlights kill the car. it could be much more original, why the hell did they copied the astons?

in my opinion this looks better than the previous generation. I liked the old one a lot but this puts this a bit higher than some of the competion

ATHEIST and damn proud of it.
Why the Jaguar ALC looks like an Aston Martin:
- Legislation. Current legislation has a lot to say on the positioning of certain "hard-points" on a car. There has to be a certain ammount of space between the bonnet and the mechanical parts beneath it. The windscreen has to be at a certain position and angle to allow the correct degree of sight lines and etc.
When this is applied to a GT car like the Jag or Aston the degree of tolerence can be measured in mere millimeters. That is why the basic profiles of the cars are so close.
- The designer. Who designed the DB7, Vanquish and a large part of the early work for the DB9 and what turned into the AMV8? Ian Callum
Who designed this new Jaguar? Ian Callum.
- The car itself. The Astons are a traditional British sporting GT - front-engined, rear-wheel drive. The Jag is a traditional British sporting GT - front-engined, rear-wheel drive. They share a lot of common heritige.
Why they aren't the same:
The Aston has what Callum refers to as "tailoring". They have neat, contained, refined lines that are taut yet architectural.
The Jag is more dynamic, with more flowing lines, fuller curves
If you look at the rear haunches of the ALC/XK next to the DB9 and Vanquish you can clearly see which is the Jaguar.
Maybe they could have pushed it a bit further, made it a bit more distinctive - but a country exists called America which is full of tedious bores who dictate a certain ammount of blandness in automotive design, and if you desperately need your new coupe to be a sales success in that country you have to bow to a certain ammount of that dullness.
Thanks for all the fish
It looks more modern than any jag out at the moment. Simple.
And it's not a half bad looking car.

The back is really nice, the front looks like a future Cavalier model.
Edit: Yes, as in a Chevrolet Cavalier.
I agree, they didn't try and give the headlights and grille any prominence; they just blend into the final shape.
Should have had more carbs!
