Which do you think is the best? Can both a turbo and supercharger be put into a car to give it low rpm boost from SC and high rpm boost from the SC and TC?
Supercharger
Turbocharger

dumbest thing ive ever seen, twin turbo plus s/cOriginally Posted by TheOne

Well only the s/c will give torque from low revs.Originally Posted by KnifeEdge_2K1
The twin-turbos on each pair of cylidners HAS advantages over sequential as it usually involves less restriction to flow and hence "easier" power.
Make up for hte lack of a smaller lighter turbo for the mid range revs with a s/c and bingo.
Quite a neat setup too.

true but a parrelel setup will accomplish teh same thingOriginally Posted by Matra et Alpine
and since turbo boost pressures go up exponentially with flow rate its not really a problem of a turbo not being able to create enough boost but just a heat management issue, a parrellel setup will produce similar results with less weight and less drag on driveline parts (true the supercharger is probably connected through an electro magnetic clutch but the turbo's will always be "on" unless you have a bypass which adds even more weight and complexity
haha, 9 votes for turbo and none for super.
Parrallel turbos on a street car. That's my idea of a fun car, regardless to turbo lag, as when the boost kicks in........zoom-zoom.

Superchargers have their applications. There's nothing better than a blower sticking 2 feet out of the hood of a 69 Charger. But for most cars, turbos are the way to go. Especially for a street car. You can drive around off boost and still get decent gas mileage, but the power's there if you want it.

true. Is there any electronically controlled wastegates out there, that you can switch up or down the boost, depending on the situation? It sounds to me like it would extend the life of your engine and tubines, and you get the boost when you need it.Originally Posted by Quiggs

I voted Sc while i like turbos better for most applications i was at car show yesterday with a supercharged 427 '70 vette, and thats a pretty incredible sight
also there nothing that compares to an earth shaking big block with a huge sc on it, a first gen camaro almost blew my ears out with one at that same show
