    worst cars ever made

here you post what you think are the top ten worst cars ever made. if I post one you can also post it because remember THIS IS YOUR OPENION, so if I post a car and you also think it is a POS, then you can post it too.
also, don't flame a member if you don't agree with their list, remember this is their openion.

heres some criterias to help you make your list

    1. was a flop in terms of sales?
    2. had many recalls issued in a short amount of time?
    3. many known reliability problems?
    4. many quality problems?
    5. known to rust badly?
    6. is it plain fugly? (talking Aztek ugly)

    here's my list

    Ford Focus (US MODEL)
    (1999-)
    1999-2004 models only

When the Focus came to the US in 1999 as a 2000 model, (The European Focus came a year earlier) it was served to replace the strong selling (and may I say reliable) Escort. in 2000 it walked away with Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year award, with a host of other awards, while the car was very well engineered, it had a host of reliability problems (the UK model didn't suffer from them suppositively) with 11 recalls in it's first 2 years, tieing a record which was set by the Chevy Citation in 1981, it also had a known problem with the Zetec models spontainisly combusting due to a faulty fuel line, and a host of brake problems and many complaints of poor build quality (like wheels falling off build quality) from owners, the Focus deserves a sopt on the list, But Ford suppositively worked many of the kinks out of it when they redesigned it for 2005 though.

    1995-2000 whole Dodge line.

again, these cars were all nice and comfy, but reliability comes into play. back when Dodge was doing the whole "The NEw Dodge" thing (getting off their whole K car gigi that got them such success in the 80s) they tried to do the exact opposite of the K cars, and they did, (the new cars were feature laden and unreliable while the K cars were known for reliability) Chrysler put luxary before reliability and it showed. These cars were known to have crappy drivetrain reliability and they ate through transmissions like a fat guy through cake.

    YUGO! (1986-1991)

the Yugo has to be the worst built car ever made. people complained of parts falling off during test drives, somebody said one was once blown off the macanac bridge, and much more. the Yugo has to be the biggest joke in the history of the auto industry and is a disgrace to all cars traveling the roads today, they are cheap rusted a lot, and if the car still worked it worked very cheaply. I bet I can take a yugo apart with my bare hands without breaking a nail. Malcolm Bricklin, the man who was origionally importing yugos, said he could bring them back to the Us if he can get ends to meet. please, no.

    Edsel
    (1958-1960)

The Edsel was all nice engineered and reliable, but it was too overpriced. Ford wanted to create a car that had all consumers wanted but didn't ask what they were willing to pay for it, so when potental consumers saw the sticker price, they were scared out of the dealorship, because back then, if consumers had that kind of money, they would of bought a cadillac.

    pontiac Fiero
    (1984-1988)

really, the Fiero is one of my favorite cars, but the engine fires caused the car to come up on the list. really, the car was designed to be a commuter car, but consumers thought it was a true sports car , so they pushed it to it's limits, and it caught fire in the process because the engine wasn't designed for high endurance use. but really, I like the Fiero a lot and I don't mean to knock it, I wouldn't mind it for my first car.

    Pontiac Aztek
    (2000-2006)

Nothing really, except for the fact that it is ugly and poorly designed. and lucally, it will be replaced by the Torrent in 2006.

    1978 Honda Accord
    (1978-)
    1978-1980 models only

usually Honda and Unreliabile go together like a Toyota prius and a Ford Excursion, but when the Accord first came out, it was a piece of crap, it had poeces of trim that would change color and afll off, and it had the transmission reliability of a 3rd gen dodge Caravan, it is hard to believe today though because now the Accord is one of the most reliable cars you can buy.

    Ford Pinto
    (1972-1981)

The Ford Pinto was ford's attempt to get into the small car market, and it had a major issue-the fuel tank would explode if the car was rear ended, surprisingly though, only a few owners complained.......

    Chevy Vega
    (19??-197?)
    http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/...Chevy_Vega.jpg
this car was poorly built and had many build problems. the front end could fall off, and therer was much more where that came from, the thing was destined to go to the junkyard the minute it left the showroom.

    Ford Escort (1981-2003)
    1981-1985 models only

reliabilioty again, Fiord spent lots of time developing the engine, but it just couldn't be made to be reliable. by 1985 or so though, they were finally able to solidify the Escort's reliability.

    AMC pacer
    (1975-1981)

This was AMC's way to get into the Station Wagon market, it had big engine options and a driver door that was longer that the passenger door to make access easier, oh did I say it was ugly?

    "welcome to america"

"dodge caravan" thats not a caravan its a van.. stupid name...

no offence karrmann but this thread just seems abit weak.. im not trying to offend you or anything, but what is your facination with degrading cars? there are thousands of cars out there and you pic on a few, and never focus on their good points, just their bad. if you want to step up and make a better car i welcome you. everyone makes mistakes - even multi national car companys.

We've had our Focus for over 5 years and 110,000 miles. It's failed on us once -- a couple months ago when the ignition failed. It was fixed in 2 hours for $100.

The biggest omission from your list is the Chevy Vega. It had an aluminum engine that warped in a matter of weeks and started rusting almost immediately.

Photo is of my first wife and the Vega we received as a wedding present. Within a year both the engine and transmission were trash. We traded it for a VW Beetle.

The Vega was built for the 1971-1977 model years. And that was long enough.
Anyway, I bascially agree with your list.
I would add a few others, like the Chevy Corvair (especially the early models: slow and trouble-prone), maybe the Volkswagen Bus from the '50s to the '70s (extremely underpowered- to the point of being a traffic hazard... Road Test magazine tested a '70 and got a 44-second 0-60 mph time with an absoute top speed of only 65 mph!). Those VWs also had a problem keeping upright in strong winds. One of my neighbors had one and put bricks inside to keep it from overturning when on the highway during a Santa Ana wind episode.

each persons criteria is different but my list would included cars like the H2, Escalade, Maybach, Phantom, Continental, Veyron, SL55 etc. Huge overpowered/underused cars for rich people that are all about image.

The focus doesnt deserve to be on that list! it seems like your only criteria is reliability. thats obviously a main point but it is also a fun, good handling, efficient people carrier. there are hundreds worse. but, to each his own.

i would have thought that if an excursion hit a prius they would stick together quite well...

    Holden Camira.

It was a revelation when it was first released in 1982: here was an Australian Manufacturer churning out a "World-Beater". It handled brilliantly, It looked modern and Crisp, It was decently powered and priced. And it had a Wagon Variant. It easily walked away with Wheels CoTY 1982.

But then things started going haywire; Shoddy build quality, Shite Plastic, A Complete lack of any type of refinement, and the Longevity of the cars was truly terrible.

My mates mother had an '84, The back seat fell off when i sat on it.

Of course the Car improved, but It could never escape the tarnished name.

While a good drive, like the Alfasud, It deserves to be derided.

Although it's replacement, the Holden Apollo ( a Re-Badged Camry) was pretty terrible to.

not true, the Edsel is on there because they flopped because the price was in Cadillac territory, the Aztek and Pacer because they were plain ugly and the Pinto because it would explode if it was rear ended.

Hmmm, well just for you Prius, I'll say that the Toyota Prius would be on my list for being slow and not fun for me and it's too small for me. Also the Vectors were ugly and they were a sales flop.

This thread is quite dumb as there are many threads about this kind of topic.
