Actually my dad read that Ralph Lauren has only driven each car (minus the McLaren and one of the Porsches or Ferrari's) once. He thinks of them as art, they just sit and he only drives the Mac and one of the other ones now and again. What a waste of space
The biggest problem with driving the others is the potential damage that might be done to it. Natural driving wear/damage will be inevitable no matter how carefully you drive it. E.g. the car in front of you may lob a small stone and you'll end up with a nasty crack in the windscreen or worse, a chip in the paintwork, which was probably immaculate to begin with. There must be millions of other scenarios where damage might occur, but I agree with you, it is really sad that he doesn't drive them. However, if he does drive them, the cars never be properly preserved and the generations after him may also be able to see them in the same pristine condition that they are in now.
Oh for gods sake, who is gunna give a continetal shit about a replaced windscreen, or a speck in the paint job. I sure wouldn't.Originally Posted by milkpowder
